Cooper Robinson Selected AVCA National Player of the Week

Robinson recorded a career-high 23 kills in last week's win over UC Irvine.

UCLA's Cooper Robinson was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Men's National Collegiate Player of the Week on Tuesday morning after his outstanding performances in a pair of Bruin wins last week over No. 7 UC Irvine.
 
Robinson connected for a career-high 22 kills in UCLA's five-set win at UC Irvine on Wednesday night. The redshirt sophomore came right back on Friday night in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom to better that with a 23-kill effort as the Bruins prevailed in four sets over the Anteaters.
 
The Loyola High School product averaged 5.0 kills per set in the two matches and hit a combined .427 on 82 swings. He also handled 60 of 62 serve receptions without error. During the week of action against UCI, Robinson established new career highs in kills (23), digs (8), points (26.5) and tied his previous high of five block assists. The big week moved him up to sixth in the nation in hitting percentage this season at .416.

The Bruins will be back in action on Friday with a match at No. 1 Long Beach. The two teams will then tangle again on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom.
