EUGENE, Ore. - UCLA men's track and field wrapped up the first day of competition at the 2024 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. on Wednesday night, earning Second Team All-America honors in the hammer, 400m, and 4x400m relay events.
Kris Emig recorded a mark of 67.70m (222-1) in the men's hammer throw to begin the day for UCLA, finishing 16th.
Next to compete was Antonie Nortje (45.84), who placed 12th in the nation in the men's 400m. Nortje would secure another Second Team All-America honor in the 4x400m relay race alongside teammates Ismail Turner, Myles Misener-Daley, and Sam Herenton after finishing tenth (3:04.60).
The women begin competition on Thursday, June 6, beginning at 3 p.m. PT. The Bruins will compete in two of the first three field events, with Mayyi Mahama in the hammer throw and Federica Botter in the javelin throw. On the track side, semifinal rounds for the Bruin women will begin in the evening, starting with the 800m race.
The second day of the national championships will be broadcast on ESPN2 starting at 5:30 p.m. PT. Live results are available here.
