EUGENE, Ore. - UCLA Track and Field wrapped up the first day of women's competition at the 2024 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday night in Eugene, Ore. Hosted by the University of Oregon at Hayward Field, it was the second overall day of the outdoor nationals.
The Bruin women collected All-America honors in the hammer, javelin, 800m, and the 4x400m relay events.
Mayyi Mahama kicked the meet off for UCLA with a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw (68.69m, 225-4). Mahama earned First-Team All-America honors, and her mark is second all-time in school history.
Kate Jendrezak was an All-American Honorable Mention in the 800m, placing 18th (2:03.42).
Finishing 12th, Federica Botter claimed Second Team All-America honors in the javelin (52.78m, 173-2).
Naomi Johnson, Aly Conyers, Kate Jendrezak, and Kaylen Fletcher finished tenth in the nation in the 4x400m relay (3:30.26). They were named Second Team All-Americans in the day's final event.
The second and final day of the men's competition takes place on Friday, June 7, beginning at 5:20 p.m. PT. Aidan Elbettar and Michael Pinckney will close out the outdoor season for the Bruin men in the discus event.
