LOS ANGELES – UCLA Track and Field concluded the first day of competition at the New Mexico Team Open, hosted by the University of New Mexico, and the University of Washington Invitational, hosted by the University of Washington on Friday evening. TRACK RESULTS:
UCLA claimed a top-five overall finish in the men's unseeded 200m dash to begin the day. Sophomore John Robinson IV ran a 21.06 to secure fifth place. Freshman Gabriel Clement II was also able to place second in Heat 6 after running a 21.556 in his collegiate debut in the 200m race.

The strong performances continued as the Bruins saw three top-10 finishes on the women's side of the 200m unseeded race. Senior Kate Jendrezak, sophomore Naomi Johnson, and Kaylen Fletcher all claimed first place in their respective heats, which led to a second-place podium finish for Fletcher (24.05). Jendrezak ran a 24.28 to place sixth overall and Johnson ran 24.32 for seventh. Fletcher's 24.05 run time also secured a spot on UCLA's all-time Top-10 Indoor list for the women's 200m, slipping into the 10th place to pass Suzie Acolatse's 24.08, achieved on Feb. 11th, 2017.

In the women's unseeded 400m race, Jendrezak and Fletcher would return with the momentum built from their previous finishes on the day. Jendrezak secured a first-place finish on the podium.

Fletcher would place fourth, running 55.40 and achieving another top-five finish.
