Garbers Named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week

LOS ANGELES โ Redshirt senior quarterback Ethan Garbers of the UCLA football team has been selected as the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday morning.
Garbers becomes the first Bruin ever to be named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week. He's the second UCLA player this season to pick up a weekly honor, after kicker Mateen Bhaghani was named the league's top special teams player after a Week 1 victory at Hawai'i.
Garbers led the Bruins to a 35-32 win at Rutgers โ the program's first league win as members of the Big Ten โ with the finest statistical performance of his career, as he posted career-highs in passing yards (383), touchdowns (five; four passing, one rushing), and completion percentage (32-38; ย 84%).
His completion percentage was the fifth-highest in UCLA single-game history since 1980, and he's one of just two Bruin QBs in that time span (Dorian Thompson-Robinson) to complete 30+ passes at a clip of 80% or higher.
In the win, Garbers recorded both the longest pass completion of his career โ a 67-yard touchdown to running back Keegan Jones โ and the longest run of his career, a 42-yard highlight-reel scramble into the end zone.
Thanks in large part to Garbers's performance, UCLA registered season highs in points (35), touchdowns (five), and total offense (478 yards).
