
Nick Rimando Inducted into National Soccer Hall of Fame

FRISCO, Texas – UCLA Men's Soccer great and long-time Major League Soccer / U.S. Men's National Team veteran goalkeeper Nick Rimando was elected to the 2025 class of the National Soccer Hall of Fame, one of a handful of inductees to be enshrined on May 3, 2025, in the North Texas-based facility. Rimando was elected in the player category.
Rimando played for the Bruins for three years, from 1997-1999, before turning professional after being drafted by the Miami Fusion in the third round of the 2000 MLS Draft. During his three seasons in Westwood, Rimando helped the Bruins to a national championship in 1997, was an NSCAA second-team All-American in 1998, earned sports on the All-Far West region team twice, and was a three-time All-MPSF honoree. Rimando is second in school history for most wins in a season (19) and ranks second all-time in career goals against average (0.67). The Montclair, California native appeared in 48 games across three seasons for the Bruins, making 46 starts between the posts.
Rimando retired from playing following the 2019 season after 13 seasons with Real Salt Lake, in addition to five years at D.C. United and two seasons with the Miami Fusion. He finished his career as Major League Soccer's all-time leader in games played (514), games started (514), minutes played (46,336), saves (1,705), goalkeeping wins (223), and shutouts (154), all marks that remain intact today.
During his illustrious 20-year career in Major League Soccer, Rimando became the latest Bruin to make a World Cup squad when he represented the United States at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
