Charlisse Leger-Walker Out for Season

LOS ANGELES – Graduate student Charlisse Leger-Walker will sit out the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign, the Michael Price Family UCLA Women's Basketball Head Coach Cori Close announced Friday.
"Although we would prefer her to be fully health and playing with us right now, we are really excited to announce that Charlisse will be coming back for another year," said Close. "She will be redshirting this year, but we're very excited for our Bruin fans to see her for the entire 2025-26 season."
The graduate transfer tore her ACL on Jan. 28, 2024, against UCLA while playing with her former program, Washington State. Despite missing the final month and a half of the 2023-24 season, she was named All-Pac-12 (Coaches and Media) and was the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar of the Year Second Runner-Up. Leger-Walker recorded her two first-career triple-doubles during her senior campaign; the first came against Maryland on Nov. 23 (11 points, 15 rebounds, 13 assists) and the second was against Houston on Dec. 17 (15 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists).
"I had hoped I would be competing with the Bruins this season, but I've decided I need more time to get back," said Leger-Walker. "I am looking forward to getting fully healthy, training at an elite level, and coming back to the court next year."
In the Cougars' all-time career record books, Leger-Walker finished third in career points (1,743), fourth in points per game (16.6), fifth in made field goals (607), second in made threes (199), fifth in made free throws (330), fourth in assists (389).
The graduate guard will utilize a medical redshirt for remainder of the season and is expected to rejoin the Bruins' active roster in 2025-26. Leger-Walker is pursuing a Master of Education in Transformative Coaching and Leadership at UCLA.
