UCLA Beats Stanford, 197.175-196.725

Stanford, Calif. – No. 10 UCLA used strong scores on uneven bars and balance beam to defeat No. 24 Stanford, 197.175-196.725, on Friday night.
UCLA took the lead from the start and never relinquished it after scoring 49.4 on bars to Stanford's 49.025 on vault. Chae Campbell began the night with a leadoff 9.875 and was matched by Katelyn Rosen in the three spot. Margzetta Frazier contributed a 9.85, and Frida Esparza and Selena Harris closed with matching 9.9s.
Stanford cut into the Bruins' lead in rotation two after scoring 49.175 on bars, while UCLA scored 49.1 on vault. Maddie Anyimi led off with a season-high-tying 9.8, and Emily Lee stuck her Yurchenko full vault once again and scored 9.85. Campbell also stuck her Yurchenko full for a meet-winning 9.9.
Lee got UCLA's floor party off to a great start with a 9.875, and Emma Andres followed with a 9.825 before making way to two Bruins who were competing for the first time on floor this year. Freshman Alex Irvine hit her routine for a 9.75, and graduate student Chloe Lashbrooke, in just her second performance of any kind this year, stepped up to hit a 9.825. Harris added a 9.825, and Nya Reed closed the rotation with a meet-winning 9.925. UCLA's floor total of 49.275 gave the Bruins a .325 lead going into the last rotation.
UCLA secured the victory with a strong 49.4 showing on beam. Lee led off with a 9.9 and Rosen and Andres followed with 9.825s. Campbell and Harris each scored 9.875s, and Emma Malabuyo, back after a two-week absence while competing in Olympic qualifying events, finished with a 9.925.
Harris won the all-around with a 39.325 and tied with Esparza and Stanford's Chloe Widner for first on bars (9.9). Campbell took first place on vault (9.9), and Reed tied with Widner for first on floor (9.925).
The Bruins will next compete at Arizona State on Saturday, Mar. 9 at 1pm MT/12pm PT.
