
Andrews Lifts UCLA Past Beavers, 67-57, at Pac-12 Tournament

LAS VEGAS โ Dylan Andrews scored a career-high 31 points and added seven 3-pointers to lead the UCLA men's basketball team past Oregon State, 67-57, in the first round of the 2024 Pac-12 Tournament on Wednesday afternoon.
Andrews led all scorers with 31 points, the most points in a game by any UCLA player since Johnny Juzang totaled 32 points in a win at Washington on Feb. 13, 2021. Andrew made 11 of 15 shots on Wednesday, sinking 7 of 9 attempts from 3-point range. He finished with four assists and three steals.

Andrews' 31-point total marked the most points by any Bruin in a Pac-12 Tournament game since Aaron Holiday registered 34 points in an 88-77 win over Stanford in 2018. His seven 3-pointers against Oregon State on Wednesday afternoon were the most in a game by any UCLA player since Jan. 2, 2020, when Jake Kyman connected on 7-of-12 shots from long-range in a win at Washington.

Adem Bona totaled 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting, adding six rebounds, two steals and one block.
With the Bruins up seven points, Andrews nailed his sixth 3-pointer of the night to put the Bruins ahead, 56-46, with 5:37 remaining in the game. One minute later, Lazar Stefanovic buried a triple before Andrews hit his seventh bucket from behind the arc, putting the Bruins on top by a 62-48 margin at the 2:19 mark.
Bona added a dunk with 1:14 to go in the game, sealing the Pac-12 Tournament win for UCLA. The Bruins made their free throws down the stretch to earn the 10-point win in their Pac-12 Tournament opener.
After initially trailing 7-2, the Bruins went on a 16-4 scoring run to take an 18-11 lead with 12:08 to go in the first half. Andrews and Bona paced the Bruins with seven points each during the run. Oregon State closed the gap to two, 22-20 with 5:48 remaining before Aday Mara made his second basket of the game to put the Bruins up four, 22-18.
Will McClendon added a triple, the Bruins' second of the game, giving the Bruins a seven-point cushion with 3:20 left in the first half. Andrews closed the half strongly with two 3-pointers to close the half before Bona added another point from the foul line, and UCLA led 34-22 at the end of the first half of play.
In the opening half, Bona and Andrews combined for 25 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the field. Andrews finished 3-for-4 from behind the arc, and Bona was 6-for-7 from the free-throw line. ย
Oregon State opened the second half with five quick points to make it a 34-27 game before the Bruins responded with a run of their own. Brandon Williams and Andrews made the next four baskets as UCLA went on an 8-0 run, taking a game-high 15-point lead, 42-27, with 15:39 remaining in the game.
Oregon State cut the Bruins' lead to seven, 43-36, before Andrews knocked down another clutch three, his fourth of the game, putting the Bruins back up double digits, 46-36.
The Beavers clawed their way back into the game, utilizing a 6-0 scoring run to cut the Bruins' lead to just four points โ 46-42, with 9:46 remaining. Andrews responded with a triple on UCLA's next possession, putting the Bruins back up seven, 49-42. With that made basket, Andrews set a new career-high in points with 23. Andrews finished with 31 points on the night as the Bruins controlled the tempo the rest of the way en route to a 67-57 win in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament.
Up Next: UCLA (16-16) will take on No. 4-seed Oregon (20-11) in the Pac-12 Tournament Quarterfinals on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m. (PT), as the Bruins' game will be televised by the Pac-12 Network.
