
Harris Wins Three Pac-12 Titles as Bruins Finish Second

The Bruins started the meet with a strong 49.475 on balance beam. Emily Lee led off with a 9.925, and Katelyn Rosen followed with a 9.875 after sticking her dismount. Emma Andres nearly stuck her double full dismount but was slightly off balance and had to take a small step at the end, giving her a score of 9.775. Ciena Alipio scored 9.725 after a balance break, but Harris and Emma Malabuyo came through with back-to-back 9.95s to close. The Bruins's score of 49.475 put them in third behind Oregon State (49.550) and Utah (49.500).

UCLA took over the lead after the second rotation thanks to a 49.625 on floor. Rosen and Margzetta Frazier started the rotation with 9.9s. Brooklyn Moors and Harris added 9.95s, Nya Reed scored 9.9, and Chae Campbell finished with a 9.925 to help the Bruins grab a three-tenths of a point lead over Utah, 99.100-98.800.

Utah gained the lead in the third rotation by a slim 0.025 margin after scoring 49.700 on floor. UCLA scored 49.375 on vault, led by Harris' nearly-perfect 9.975 and Paige Anastasi's 9.900. Rosen contributed a 9.875, Reed scored 9.825, and Lee added a 9.800.

In the final rotation, UCLA finished up on uneven bars, while Utah ended on vault. UCLA scored 49.400, with Harris ending the meet with another stuck dismount and a 9.950, and Rosen contributing a 9.900. Frazier contributed a 9.875, Malabuyo added a 9.850, and Frida Esparza scored 9.825, but it was not enough to catch Utah, who closed with a 49.500, thanks to four scores of 9.9 or higher.

Harris' winning all-around score of 39.825 tied fellow Bruin Kate Richardson's Pac-12 Championships record, set in 2003. Harris beat U.S. Olympians Jade Carey (Oregon State) and Grace McCallum (Utah), who tied for second with scores of 39.675. Rosen placed fourth with a career-best 39.550. Harris also received second-place finishes on beam and floor, tying with Malabuyo on beam and Moors on floor.

The Bruins improved their final NQS to 197.675, moving up to No. 9 headed into NCAA Regionals. The Regional placements will be announced on Monday, March 25 at 9am PT on NCAA.com.
