March 05, 2024 | Women's Basketball
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Graduate student Charisma Osborne has been named a finalist for the 2024 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced Tuesday.
In her final campaign with the Bruins, Osborne has improved her efficiency on the offensive end while anchoring the UCLA back-court during the 2023-24 season. The shooting guard has recorded career-best shooting percentages in FG (.416), 3FG (.326) and FT (.889) while leading UCLA in points scored (409) and steals (48).
Osborne has recorded three double-doubles this season, averaging 14.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game during her fifth season at UCLA. She has over 400 points, 140 rebounds and 110 assists in 29 starts this year; recently, Osborne became the second guard in Pac-12 Conference history to accrue 2,000+ career points and 800+ career rebounds, joining Sabrina Ionescu of Oregon on the short list.
The Ann Meyers Drysdale Shooting Guard of the Year award recognizes the top shooting guard in women's NCAA Division I college basketball. It is named after the UCLA and Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer, the first player, regardless of gender, to be chosen for an All-America Team in four consecutive college seasons.
