April 01, 2024 | Men's Volleyball
UCLA's Merrick McHenry was named on Monday as the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) / Molten Men's Offensive Volleyball Player of the Week. He hit .789 for the weekend while leading the Bruins to a pair of wins over No. 6 Stanford in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom.
McHenry registered 15 kills on 19 swings in the two matches against the Cardinal. He has now hit at least .400 in each of his last 19 matches this season. McHenry added a season-high tying seven block assists to go with a career-best eight digs in the first night victory. On night two, the redshirt senior middle blocker was perfect on seven swings and ended the decisive third set with three straight service aces to complete a sweep of the Cardinal. The three aces equaled his season-high mark for a match.
The Bruins (7-1) will challenge MPSF-leading Grand Canyon (8-0) in a pair of matches to be played this week on Friday (7 p.m.) and Saturday (5 p.m.) in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom.
Also on Monday, the AVCA released its weekly coaches poll on Monday and the Bruins sit in the No. 2 position.
