LOS ANGELES – Outfielders Jadelyn Allchin and Janelle Meoño on the No. 6-ranked UCLA softball team were named to the Division I College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.

The 2023-24 Academic All-District Softball Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.

Allchin, a graduate student enrolled in UCLA's marketing extension program was selected as a CSC Academic All-America finalist. She will be considered for the Academic All-America first, second and third teams, which will be announced June 18.

Allchin earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Washington in 2023 prior to transferring to UCLA. She was an NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete in 2023 and 2021 with the Huskies. This marks the first CSC Academic All-District honor of Allchin's career.

Allchin has been one of the most valuable transfer additions in the country. The graduate transfer from Washington (2020-23) received the first All-Pac-12 Team recognition of her career this season, being named to the Second Team.

Allchin has started a career-high 52 games in 2024 and is enjoying season-bests in batting average (.321), runs batted in (32), runs scored (40) and stolen bases (10-10). Allchin is batting for a .444 average during the 2024 NCAA Tournament with a home run, double and six runs scored.

This marks the second CSC Academic All-District recognition in Meoño's five-year career after being named a CSC Academic First Team All-American in her redshirt freshman 2021 season at Arizona.

Meoño is batting for a .315 average with one double and a triple in 48 games played this season. The speedster slap-hitter has been an anchor in the No. 9 spot of the order for the back half of the season for the Bruins.

Allchin, Meoño and the Bruins (42-10, 17-4 Pac-12) open the Women's College World Series Thursday, May 30 at 9 a.m. (PT) against No. 14 seed Alabama. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.
