Four Bruins Set to Compete at USA Swimming and Diving Trials

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. โ€“ Four Bruins from the UCLA Swimming and Diving program are set to participate at the US Swimming Olympic trials and the US Diving Olympic trials this upcoming week. Sarah Bennetts, Paige MacEachern, and Brooke Schaffer will take part in the swimming trials in Indianapolis, Indiana, while Savana Trueb will compete at the diving trials on June 21st.

The US Swimming trials will be broadcast live from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Peacock ($) for the preliminary rounds and on USA Network/NBC and streaming on Peacock ($) for the finals.

Sarah Bennetts
Events: 100 breaststroke
When: June 16

Bennetts competed in all 12 regular season meets, as well as the Pac-12 Championships during her freshman season in Westwood. At the Pac-12 Championships she swam in the 50 free (22.63, 20th), 100 breast (1:00.31, 9th), 200 breast (2:11.01, 11th). Her ninth place finish in the 100 breast earned her the 'B' final win. Bennetts earned her first career win on Oct. 20 at the UCSB dual meet, taking first in the 200 breast (2:16.52). She picked up her second career win on Nov. 3 in the Arizona State dual meet, earning first in the 100 breast (1:00.09). Prior to UCLA, Bennetts was a standout swimmer at Davis High School in Davis, Calif. where she was CIF State Champion in the 100 breast in 2023, and runner-up in 2022.

Paige MacEachern
Events: 200 IM, 400 IM
When: 400 IM June 17, 200 IM June 21

Fresh off her school record performance in the 400 IM at the Pac-12 championships, MacEachern is set to take part in both the 200 IM and 400 IM. At the NCAA Championships, MacEachern earned all-America honors in the 400 IM after placing eighth overall in the event. The junior has appeared at the NCAA Championships three times in her career as a Bruin, and the 2024 trials marks the second time she has competed at the Olympic trials. ย At the Pac-12 Championships, she competed in the 200 fly (1:56.80, 11th), 200 IM (1:55.97, 6th), and the 400 IM (4:03.47, 2nd ). MacEachern also earned 11 individual event wins throughout the regular season.

Brooke Schaffer
Events: 50 free, 100 free
When: ย 50 free June 22, 100 free June 18

After finishing her career as a Bruin, Brooke Schaffer is set to compete in both the 50 free and the 100 free at the Olympic trials. She appeared in all twelve regular season meets as well as the Pac-12 Championships. At the Pac-12 Championships, competed in the 50 free (22.48, 13th), the 100 free (48.99. 15th), and the 200 free (1:45.82, 10th). Schaffer earned four individual event wins in the 50 free, three event wins in the 100 free, and two event wins in the 200 free throughout the regular season in 2024. Recorded a season-best time of 22.48 in the 50 free at the Pac-12 Championships, earning an NCAA B cut, a season-best time of 48.93 in the 100 free at the Art Adamson invite, earning an NCAA B Cut, and recorded a season-best time of 1:45.82 at the Pac-12 Championships, earning an NCAA B Cut.ย 

Savana Trueb
Event: Platform Dive
When: June 21, 10:15 a.m. PT

After coming on strongly at the end of the season, Savana Trueb is set to compete at the US Diving trials on June 21st. Trueb earned second team All-America honors at the NCAA Championships in both the 3-meter dive and the platform dive competitions. At the Pac-12 Championships, competed in the 1-meter (290.80, 4th), 3-meter (296.35, 6th), and platform (258.35, 5th) diving events. Throughout the regular season, Trueb earned six top-three scores.
