
Barnett, Ruff Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

LOS ANGELES โ Sophomore starting pitcher Michael Barnett and graduate reliever Rashad Ruff of the UCLA baseball team were both selected to the 2024 Academic All-District Baseball Teams, it was announced on Tuesday by College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA).
The honorees are recognized by CSC for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
It was the first-career CSC Academic All-District honor for both Barnett and Ruff.
Barnett concluded his second season on the UCLA pitching staff in 2024, leading the team with five wins while posting a 5.47 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 79 innings. He was nominated as the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week a team-high three times, and allowed one earned run or fewer in five of his 14 starts.
Ruff, a grad transfer by way of Coppin State, pitched to a 4.02 ERA and locked down a team-high seven saves in his debut season in Westwood. He was named to both the Preseason and Midseason Stopper of the Year Watch Lists, and got his Bruin career off to a hot start after going unscored upon in 10 of his first 11 outings.
Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second, and third-team Academic All-America winners will be announced on July 2, 2024.
