Keegan Jones Named to Paul Hornung Award Watch List

LOUISVILLE, Ky. โ Redshirt senior running back Keegan Jones on the UCLA football team was one of 48 student-athletes to be named to the preseason watch list for the 2024 Paul Hornung Award, it was announced by the Louisville Sports Commission (LSC) Thursday. The award is handed out annually to the nation's most versatile college football player.

Jones started two games at wide receiver and one game at running back in 2023. He totaled 22 touches with eight receptions for 77 yards and 14 rushing attempts for 152 yards (10.9 yards per carry) and two touchdowns. Jones' top performance from last season came in a 25-17 victory over Washington State at the Rose Bowl on Oct. 7, 2023, in which he rushed for two fourth-quarter touchdowns for 13 yards and 22 yards.

Jones' career numbers include 128 carries for 611 yards (4.8 yards per rush) and five touchdowns on ground and 34 catches for 373 yards (11.0 yards per reception) and four scores through air. A native of Cleveland, Tenn., Jones returns to his natural position of running back in 2024.

The Bruins' 2024 season will begin Saturday, Aug. 31 at 4:30 p.m. (PT), as UCLA travels to Honolulu to face Hawai'i. The contest will be televised on CBS. UCLA's home opener at The Rose Bowl features its first-ever Big Ten Conference matchup versus Indiana on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 4:30 p.m.

PAUL HORNUNG AWARD SELECTION CRITERIA
In addition to starting or playing significant downs on offense or defense, candidates will be measured by performance from among the following criteria:
- Play multiple positions on offense and/or multiple positions on defense
- Start as a position player on offense or defense and play a significant role on special teams
- Perform as a two-way player who starts either on offense or defense, and is used on the other side of the ball in some meaningful capacity
- Make a significant impact during big games such as scoring, big plays, productivity, etc.
- Elevate the team's performance through leadership displayed by excelling in multiple roles at one or more positions
