Sofia Cook Named Big Ten Offensive Player of Week
September 24, 2024 | Women's Soccer
UCLA junior Sofia Cook was named the Big Ten Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, becoming the first Bruin ever to win this award in the conference.
Cook, a midfielder from Huntington Beach, Calif., scored the game-winning goals in UCLA's road victories at Indiana and Purdue. At Indiana on Sept. 19, she scored the game's only goal in the 28th minute, a rocket from outside the box that went top shelf for her second goal of the year. She scored the game's first goal once again on Sept. 22 at Purdue, breaking a scoreless tie with a far post screamer, as the Bruins went on to beat the Boilermakers, 2-0. Cook has scored three goals this season, all of them being game-winners.
This is Cook's first-ever conference weekly award.
