LOS ANGELES -- Top-ranked UCLA (11-0) extended its consecutive regular season win streak to 36 games on Friday night with a 16-8 win over No. 12 UC Santa Barbara (10-5) at Dirks Pool at Spieker Aquatics Center. It marked the 19th-consecutive win over the Gauchos as the Bruins improved to 113-17-1 in the series history.

A total of eight different Bruins scored in the game, paced by a season-high five goals from freshman Ryder Dodd. Redshirt sophomore Ben Larsen also scored a season-high three goals, which tied his career best total. Redshirt junior Eli Liechty scored a season-high two goals, as did graduate Nico Tierney

Super senior Garret Griggs got the start in the cage and played all but the final 3:22, tallying a season-high 14 saves and a steal while giving up six goals. Redshirt freshman Nate Tauscher came on in relief and allowed two goals.

The Bruins led 4-3 at the end of the first quarter, after trailing 2-0. UCSB scored the first two goals (6:21 and 5:23) but the Bruins scored the next three to take their first lead of the game. Sophomore Wade Sherlock got the Bruins going (4:10), followed by back-to-back goals from Ryder Dodd (3:14 and 2:32). After the Gauchos tied it up at 3-3 (2:16), freshman Bode Brinkema put the Bruins in front for good (2:02) off the first of five assists from redshirt junior Chase Dodd to end the scoring in the first.

UCLA won the second period, 3-1, to take a 7-4 lead into the break. The Bruins scored the first three goals to stretch a consecutive goal scoring streak to four to pull away from the Gauchos. Tierney opened the scoring in the second (7:32) and then Ryder Dodd completed his hat trick (5:14) to make it 6-3. Ben Larsen put UCLA up 7-3 (4:13) with Chase Dodd picking up his third assist of the game. UCSB ended the scoring in the second period with a goal at the 0:15 mark to cut the Bruins' lead to 7-4.

The Bruins would win the third period, 5-2, to build a 12-6 lead heading into the fourth. Ben Larsen struck first in the third for his second score on a power play (6:46) off a feed from Chase Dodd. Ryder Dodd netted his fourth on a power play (5:46) off a pass from redshirt sophomore Frederico Jucá Carsalade to push the lead to 9-4. UCLA would rattle off two more goals to run the streak to four straight scores with Ben Larsen completing his hat trick (3:34) on a counter and Eli Liechty scoring his first from two meters off a nice feed from graduate student Aaron Voggenthaler (2:43) to make it 11-4. UCSB would sandwich a couple of goals around junior Noah Rowe's third goal of the season (1:03) to end the scoring in the third, 12-6.

The Bruins also won the fourth quarter, 4-2, to provide the 16-8 final. UCLA scored the first three goals of the final stanza to build its lead to 15-6. Junior Gray Carson scored his first of the game on a counter (6:26), followed by a second tally from Tierney (5:37), and the fifth of the game for Ryder Dodd (4:47) on a power play. UCSB scored from the front court (2:32), but Eli Liechty scored his second from two meters (2:19) on the next possession to put UCLA up 16-7. UCSB scored the final goal on a power play (1:04) to end the scoring.
