Bruins in the NFL: Week 1

DE Laiatu Latu recorded his first-career INT in a dominant win over Miami.

A total of 21 Bruin football alums were in action this past weekend for Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season. Standout performances from that group included second-year defensive end Laiatu Latu with the Indianapolis Colts, placekicker Kai'imi Fairbairn with the Houston Texans and running back Zach Charbonnet with the Seattle Seahawks.
 
Latu recorded his first-career interception in a dominant 33-8 win over the Miami Dolphins. Fairbairn scored all nine points for Houston with three field goals from 45-plus yards out. Charbonnet was the first Seahawk to find the endzone this season, barreling through the goal line for a one-yard TD rush.

• Zach Charbonnet, RB, Seattle Seahawks – Scored Seattle's lone touchdown in a 17-13 setback against the San Francisco 49ers. Charbonnet led the Seahawks in both touches (12) and rushing yards (47), punching it in from the 1-yard line early in the second quarter to tie the game at 7-7. It marked career rushing touchdown No. 10 for Charbonnet.

• Kenny Clark, DT, Dallas Cowboys – Making his Dallas debut after an offseason trade with Green Bay, Clark started at defensive tackle and made five stops in a 24-20 loss at Philadelphia.
Week 2: Sunday vs. New York Giants – 10 a.m. PT (FOX)
 
• Ka'imi Fairbairn, K, Houston Texans – Accounted for all nine of Houston's points in a 14-9 loss at the Los Angeles Rams, connecting on field goals from 51, 45, and 53 yards out. He improved to 44-for-58 on 50+ yard field goals for his career, including a 26-for-30 clip since the start of the 2022 season. Fairbairn is in his 10th NFL season.
Week 2: Monday vs. Tampa Bay – 4 p.m. PT (ESPN)
 
• Darnay Holmes, CB, Las Vegas Raiders – Played 26 defensive snaps and made two tackles in the Raiders' 20-13 road triumph at New England.
Week 2: Monday vs. Los Angeles Chargers – 7 p.m. PT (ESPN)
 
• Carl Jones, LB, Chicago Bears – Assisted on a tackle and played 22 snaps on special teams against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football. Jones was elevated off the practice squad earlier in the week.
Week 2: Sunday at Detroit – 10:00 a.m. PT (FOX)
 
• Quentin Lake, S, Los Angeles Rams – Started and played every defensive snap in a 14-9 win over Houston. Lake totaled two tackles as Los Angeles held the Texans without a touchdown.
Week 2: Sunday at Tennessee – 10 a.m. PT (CBS)
 
• Laiatu Latu, DE, Indianapolis Colts – Entering his second year in the NFL, Latu started at defensive end and recorded his first-career interception, picking off Tua Tagovailoa on the opening drive of the second half. Latu also made one tackle. The Colts recorded a 33-8 win in the home contest.

• Moliki Matavao, TE, New Orleans Saints – Matavao made his NFL debut at home on Sunday, playing six snaps (one on offense, five on special teams).
Week 2: Sunday vs. San Francisco – 10 a.m. PT (FOX)
 
• Darius Muasau, LB, New York Giants – Entering year two in the league, Muasau played 38 defensive snaps and made a pair of tackles.
Week 2: Sunday at Dallas – 10 a.m. PT (FOX)
 
• Osa Odighizuwa, DT, Dallas Cowboys – Odighizuwa started at defensive tackle – giving the Cowboys an all-Bruin combo up the middle – making three tackles with a QB hurry.
Week 2: Sunday vs. New York Giants – 10 a.m. PT (FOX)
 
• Femi Oladejo, EDGE, Tennessee Titans – Oladejo made his NFL debut on Sunday, starting at edge rusher and making two tackles against Denver. He added a QB hit.
Week 2: Sunday vs. Los Angeles Rams – 10 a.m. PT (CBS)
 
• Carson Schwesinger, LB, Dallas Cowboys – Making his NFL debut, Schwesinger started at linebacker and posted a team-high eight tackles (3-5-8) with a QB hit. His final tackle went for a five-yard loss. Schwesinger played every defensive snap for Cleveland.
Week 2: Sunday at Baltimore – 10 a.m. PT (CBS)
 
• Jay Toia, DT, Dallas Cowboys – Toia made his NFL debut on Thursday in Philadelphia, playing four defensive snaps and making one tackle.  
Week 2: Sunday vs. New York Giants – 10 a.m. PT (FOX)
 
• Colson Yankoff, TE, Washington Commanders – Made two tackles on special teams and played 21 snaps overall (four offensive, 17 special teams) in a 21-6 win over the New York Giants.
Week 2: Thursday at Green Bay – 5:15 p.m. PT (Prime Video)
 
• OL Alec Anderson (Buffalo Bills), C Jake Brendel (San Francisco 49ers), OL Jon Gaines II (Arizona Cardinals), C Andre James (Los Angeles Chargers), T Kolton Miller (Las Vegas Raiders), DL Otito Ogbonnia (Los Angeles Chargers), and G Sean Rhyan (Green Bay Packers) also played, but did not record any statistics.
