January 14, 2025 | Gymnastics

Jordan Chiles and Emma Malabuyo have become the first UCLA gymnasts ever to earn Big Ten Conference Weekly Awards, as Chiles was named the conference Gymnast of the Week and Malabuyo the Co-Event Specialist of the Week.

Both gymnasts played big roles in UCLA's dominating win at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad. UCLA recorded a final team score of 197.550, the third-highest score in the nation this season. The Bruins also posted a national-best floor exercise score of 49.600.

Chiles posted high marks on three events, winning the floor exercise with a nearly-perfect 9.975, tying for third place on vault with a 9.925 and tying for fifth on uneven bars with a 9.850. Her 9.975 on floor was her 27th career score of 9.975 or higher.

Malabuyo scored 9.925 on both of her events. She helped the Bruins get off to a tremendous start in the first rotation, with her first-place mark on balance beam giving UCLA a team score of 49.475, the third-highest beam score in the nation. She matched that score on floor exercise, tying for fourth place.

This is Chiles' sixth career conference gymnast of the week award and Malabuyo's second individual event specialist of the week honor.
