UCLA’s Chiles, Moors Receive Big Ten Weekly Awards
January 21, 2025 | Gymnastics
UCLA gymnasts Jordan Chiles and Brooklyn Moors have been selected Big Ten Conference Co-Gymnast and Co-Event Specialist of the Week, respectively. This is Chiles' second consecutive Gymnast of the Week honor and the second-straight week that a Bruin gymnast has won the Event Specialist of the Week award.
The two Olympians played a prominent role in UCLA's Big Ten Conference opening win at Maryland. UCLA tied their season-high team score of 197.550 and set a new national-best mark on balance beam with a 49.550.
Chiles won the all-around with a score of 39.500, uneven bars with a 10.0 and floor exercise with a 9.950 in the 197.550-194.850 victory at Maryland. Her 10.0 was the first in the Big Ten this season and her ninth career perfect 10, ranking sixth all-time at UCLA. She also earned her second consecutive win on floor exercise, scoring 9.950 to tie for first with Moors. Chiles was a late addition to the balance beam lineup and contributed a 9.775, a score she also totaled on vault.
Moors earned season-high marks on each event on which she competed, tying with Chiles for first on floor exercise with a career-high-tying 9.950, tying for second on vault with a 9.875 and finishing fifth on beam with a 9.850. Moors' floor win was her second of the year, and she moved into second in the floor national rankings. She has not finished lower than second on floor in any meet this year.
This is Chiles' seventh career conference gymnast of the week award and Moors' first-ever individual event specialist of the week honor.
