Tinsley Earns Softball America Preseason All-America Honors

LOS ANGELES – Junior pitcher Taylor Tinsley on the UCLA softball team was named a 2025 Softball America Second Team Preseason All-American, the publication unveiled the 34 student-athletes Tuesday.
Tinsley blossomed into one of the top pitchers in the nation last season, being named to the All-Pac-12 and NFCA West All-Region first teams. The Lawrenceville, Ga. native led the Bruins' pitching staff with a 1.90 ERA and 166 strikeouts while compiling an 18-8 record over 147.1 innings pitched. She allowed one earned run or fewer in each of those eight losses.
Tinsley helped steer UCLA back to the Women's College World Series with a dominant showing in the NCAA Tournament. After coming back from an injury sustained in late April, Tinsley put together a 3-0 record with two complete games, a 1.91 ERA and 20 strikeouts in postseason play.
Tinsley also played a key role in a season-turning sweep at then-Pac-12-leader Stanford from April 19-21. Over three games, Tinsley limited the Cardinal to just seven hits while striking out 17 across 15.2 scoreless innings to earn all three wins. The performance featured a 9.0-inning complete-game shutout with a career-high strikeouts in game one. Tinsley was awarded NFCA National Pitcher of the Week for her heroics.
Tinsley and the Bruins open the 2025 season on Thursday, Feb. 6 versus Cal State Fullerton at 6 p.m. (PT) to kick off the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament. Single-game home tickets will go on sale Jan. 14.
