
Five Bruins Earn ACWPC All-America Acclaim, Dodd Named Player of the Year

BRIDGEPORT, Pa.ย --ย The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced the selection of the organization's 2024 Men's Division I All-America Teams today. The Bruins had five players selected to various teams, highlighted by First-Team picks redshirt junior attacker Chase Dodd and freshman attacker Ryder Dodd. Ryder Dodd was also named the ACWPC Player of the Year.
Freshman utility Peter Castillo wasย named Third Team All-American while graduate center defender Nico Tierney and redshirt sophomore attacker Frederico Jucá Carsaladeย were named to the Honorable Mention All-America team.
Ryder Dodd, who set the UCLA freshman scoring record with 102 goals, led the team and the MPSF with 134 total points (32 assists). The 102 goals rank second on the UCLA all-time single-season scoring list behind Stefan Pollmann's 115 goals during the 1990 campaign (Pac-10 Conference) and were also an MPSFย record, surpassingย the 101 goals by Ryan Bailey (UC Irvine, 1998). Ryder Dodd also led the team and MPSF in sprints won with 46 on the year. Additionally, he finished second on the team in steals (32), and in field blocks (11), and was third in drawn exclusions (30).
Chase Dodd finished fourth on the squad with 26 goals and fifth on the team in assists (33) for a total of 59 points (also fifth among the Bruins).
Castillo finished third on the team in scoring with 31 goals and added seven assists for a total of 38 points. He also paced the Bruins in drawn exclusions with 64, which ranked third in the MPSF.ย
Jucá Carsaladeย was tied for fifth on the squad with 25 goals and was second in total points with 63 points as he finished third on the team in assists (38). Additionally he was fourth in steals (21) and added seven field blocks and drew six exclusions.
Tierney finished second on the team in goals (41) and was seventh in total points (52) with 11 assists to his credit.
