UCLA Takes Down Rutgers 5-2 on Senior Night
October 24, 2025 | Men's Soccer
Solans Ormo's three goals on the night mark the 28th time that a Bruin has scored at least three goals in a game, dating back to when individual statistics were first recorded in 1983. He becomes the first Bruin since Milan Iloski scored five goals in a win over San Diego State in 2019 to score at least three goals in a game. Solans Ormo's seven points on the night are the 12th time a Bruin has tallied at least seven points in a single game.
Naef's four assists on the night mark the second time the junior has had a four-assist game in his career. The Copenhagen, Denmark native also had four assists in UCLA's 6-0 win over Maryland during the 2024 Big Ten Tournament. With his four assists on the night, Naef becomes the first Bruin in program history to record four or more assists in a single game twice in their career.
The Bruins (4-6-4, 4-3-2 Big Ten) opened the scoring in the 39th minute. Naef broke away down the left side, weaving the ball through the defenders before crossing to Solans Ormo in the box. Solans Ormo then whipped a shot past the Rutgers (8-5-2, 3-4-1 Big Ten) keeper and put the Bruins up 1-0.
Less than 30 seconds later, the Bruins struck for the second time. Oliver Roche received the ball at the top of the box from Naef, took a touch to settle the ball, and blasted a quick strike into the bottom left corner of the goal, putting the Bruins up 2-0.
UCLA kept up the fight in the second half. Despite conceding two goals in the opening 10 minutes of the half, the Bruins rallied from there.
Solans Ormo, with two goals in quick succession, gave the Bruins the lead back in the 56th minute of play. Freshman Ander Marticornena and Naef combined to find Solans Ormo in the box, who tallied his second goal of the night with a low driven shot past the keeper and into the back of the net, giving UCLA a 3-2 advantage.
Two minutes later, Marticorena found Roche out to the left of the box, who connected it to Solans Ormo for his third goal of the night, and the Bruins increased the lead to 4-2. The goal marked Solans Ormo's third career hat trick, and first as a Bruin.

UCLA capped the night with its fifth goal in the 67th minute of play. Roche bagged his second of the night with the help of Solans Ormo and Naef. Naef, who already had tallied three assists on the night, added his fourth by bursting down the wing before sending the ball across the face of the goal to Solans Ormo. The Spaniard then unselfishly laid the ball off to the on-rushing Roche, who fired it home, putting UCLA up 5-2.
The Bruins stayed compact defensively over the final 20 minutes and ran out with the 5-2 win. Kevin Box had four saves on the night in goal for the Bruins while Solans Ormo led the squad with four shots on goal and seven points (three goals, one assist).
Up Next: UCLA wraps up non-conference play on the road at Omaha on Saturday, November 1. Kickoff is set for 11 am PT and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
