Nate Tauscher Named MPSF West/Delfina Player of the Week

LOS ANGELES -- UCLA redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Nate Tauscher (Sunset Beach, Calif./Mater Dei HS) has been named the MPSF West/Delfina Player of the Week as announced by the league office today.

Tauscher led UCLA to a 2-0 record this past week (17-0 overall) with a pair of road victories to begin MPSF play. The Bruins opened with a 14-7 win at No. 2 California (Oct. 4) and then concluded the weekend with a 14-11 win at No. 4 Stanford (Oct. 5).

He accumulated 26 saves while allowing 17 goals  for a save percentage of (.605) to help the Bruins stay undefeated while extending UCLA's consecutive victories to 20 (sixth best in UCLA history). He stopped a penalty shot in both games this week and racked up a season-high-tying 12 saves at California to go with two steals while allowing six goals in 29:46 of action. In the Stanford win, Tauscher tallied a career-high 14 saves and added one steal and one assist while surrendering 11 goals. He also registered a huge save in the fourth quarter on a 6-on-4 power play for the Cardinal.
