Women’s Basketball Announces Non-Conference Opponents

October 09, 2025 | Women's Basketball

LOS ANGELES – UCLA Women's Basketball has released its non-conference schedule, the Michael Price Family UCLA Women's Head Basketball Coach Cori Close announced Thursday.

The Bruins will open the season in Anaheim, Calif., playing San Diego State at the Honda Center to begin the year. UCLA and SDSU will meet for the 32nd time in program history on Monday, Nov. 3; the Bruins are 25-6 against the Aztecs in the all-time series.

The home opener is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 6, against Coach Close's alma mater. The Bruins welcome UC Santa Barbara to Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom Financial for the first time since December 2020. UCLA holds a 16-2 advantage in the all-time series against the Gauchos and are on a seven-game win streak over UCSB.

UCLA will head to Sacramento for an early-November matchup against Oklahoma on Nov. 10 to close out the Bruins' opening week. The Bruins and Sooners will face off in the Golden 1 Center, home of the NBA's Sacramento Kings, before UCLA travels to Las Vegas, Nev., for the WBCA Challenge. The Bruins will match up against North Carolina and South Florida in a two-game showcase in Sin City.

The Bruins welcome Southern University back to Westwood for a 2025 NCAA March Madness rematch on Sunday, Nov. 23. The No. 1 overall seeded Bruins downed No. 16-seed Southern 84-46 to open UCLA's historic run to the Final Four in last year's national postseason tournament.

UCLA makes its second trip to Las Vegas for the inaugural Players Era Women's Championship during Thanksgiving weekend. The Bruins begin the two-day tournament against Texas on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 11 a.m. PT; national runner-up South Carolina will face Duke at 1:30 p.m. PT in the other semifinal game. The two winners of the semifinal games will play in the inaugural Players Era Women's Championship title game on Thursday at 5 p.m. PT and the third-place game will be played at 7:30 p.m. PT.

"As a program striving to consistently compete at a championship level, it's essential to measure ourselves against the best," said Close. "We're excited for a potential rematch with South Carolina and the opportunity to compete against other exceptional programs at the Player's Era Women's Championship. This will be the premier out of conference tournament with a national audience to boot.  It is a great honor to be included in this elite event."

Tennessee comes to town on Nov. 30 to round out an action-packed first month; the Bruins and Lady Vols announced a home-and-home series set to begin in 2025-26. It will be the second-consecutive year in which the Bruins play host to an SEC foe during November; UCLA downed then-No. 1 South Carolina on Nov. 24, 2024 in front of a sold-out crowd during the Bruins' historic 2024-25 campaign. UCLA is 3-18 all-time against Tennessee, but the program has captured two-consecutive wins over the Lady Vols under The Michael Price Family UCLA Women's Head Basketball Coach Cori Close.

The Bruins host Cal Poly (Dec. 16) and Long Beach State (Dec. 20) before conference play gets into full swing.
