Bruins Beat Omaha 5-1

November 01, 2025 | Men's Soccer

OMAHA, Neb. – The UCLA men's soccer team closed its non-conference schedule with a 5-1 win over Omaha on Saturday afternoon. Konstantinos Georgallides and Sergi Solans Ormo both tallied two goals and one assist in the win.

UCLA (5-6-4, 4-3-2 Big Ten) has now scored five goals or more in back-to-back games for the first time since 1995. The Bruins improve to 2-0-0 against Omaha (3-9-3, 1-3-1 Summit) all-time.

With his two goals and one assist on the day, Solans Ormo now has nine goals and four assists on the year. The redshirt sophomore has recorded five goals and two assists in his last two games.

Goalkeeper Kevin Box recorded two saves in goal, including a huge save to keep the game scoreless in the 13th minute.

After that flurry forward from Omaha, the Bruins controlled the ball for the majority of the game, but could not find the back of the net until the 27th minute when Georgallides put the Bruins in front. After some great build-up play from Tre Wright and Solans Ormo, Georgallides latched on to the knockdown from Solans Ormo and put the Bruins up 1-0.

Omaha would respond with 45 seconds to go in the first half to tie the game at 1-1 heading into the halftime break. However, from there it was all UCLA as the Bruins tallied four goals in the second period of action.

Solans Ormo headed home UCLA's second goal of the game in the 54th minute, off a beautiful cross from Schinieder Mimy, as UCLA took a 2-1 advantage.

UCLA then struck again just 37 seconds later when Georgallides added his second of the game. Ander Marticorena, fresh off his Big Ten freshman of the week honors, played a ball out wide to Shakir Nixon. Nixon then crossed the ball across the goal to an on-rushing Georgallides, who headered in UCLA's third of the afternoon, and the Bruins led 3-1.

The Bruins were not done there as Solans Ormo got in on the action five minutes later in the 60th minute. Solans Ormo tallied his team-leading ninth goal of the campaign after a give-and-go with Goergallides. Georgallides slotted through a ball to Solans Ormo, who picked out the top right corner of the net and put UCLA up 4-1.

As for the fifth goal, it was Mimy's turn to get on the scoresheet. The graduate student recorded his first goal as a Bruin after Phillip Naef's cross across the face of goal found the foot of Mimy, who hammered it home to put an exclamation point on the Bruins' 5-1 win on Saturday.

Up Next: UCLA concludes Big Ten regular season play at Washington on Friday, November 7. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 pm PT and the match will be streamed on B1G+.
