December 28, 2025 | Women's Basketball
COLUMBUS, Ohio โ No. 4-ranked UCLA (12-1, 2-0 B1G) started its full conference slate with an 82-75 win on the road at No. 19 Ohio State (11-2, 1-1 B1G) on Sunday.
ย
Senior Lauren Betts recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 18 points, a season-high 16 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks. Senior Kiki Rice finished with 16 points to reach 1,500 career points, the 21st Bruin in program history to surpass that mark.
ย
Five Bruins hit double figures: Betts (18), Rice (16), Dugalić (15), Jaquez (12), and Kneepkens (12).
ย
Lauren Betts opened the scoring for the Bruins, spinning around two defenders to hit the layup on the first possession of the game. Kneepkens continued the scoring a minute later, knocking down a three from a Rice assist. Lauren Betts followed with another two of her own after grabbing the offensive rebound. After a 7-0 run by the Buckeyes to tie up the game, Jaquez hit a shot from distance to put the Bruins up by three. Graduate student Charlisse Leger-Walker wanted in on the fun, knocking down the 3-pointer off a Lauren Betts assist.
ย
Lauren Betts led the way for UCLA to end the first quarter with six points, five rebounds, two blocks, and one assist.
ย
ย
UCLA started the second quarter strong, scoring five straight points to grab a 23-16 lead. Dugalić dominated, scoring nine points while adding two rebounds. With 6:05 left in the quarter, Rice crossed the court, feeding the ball to Lauren Betts, who found Jaquez driving down to get the layup and foul in the paint. A minute later, Dugalić followed her lead, getting the offensive rebound and tip-in with the foul.
ย
Dugalić continued to stay in control, completing a layup on the next possession. Sienna Betts joined in on the action through an offensive rebound and a tip-in basket. Immediately after, Kneepkens grabs the steal from the Buckeyes, resulting in a fast break layup by Rice, giving her 1,500 career points in her collegiate career. Not satisfied with her new milestone, Rice scores another basket on the Bruins' next possession, giving UCLA a 38-27 lead.
ย
Dugalić and Jaquez scored a combined 15 of UCLA's 21 total second-quarter points while shooting a combined 86 percent from the field. The duo led the scoring for UCLA with nine points each. The Bruins shot 43 percent from the field in the quarter and outrebounded the Buckeyes 28-15. UCLA held Ohio State to shooting only 8 percent from three-point range through the first 20 minutes.
ย
UCLA finished the first half with a 39-33 point lead.
ย
ย
Lauren Betts took over in the third, scoring 10 points and grabbing seven boards, including a jumper to start the quarter. After missing her shot at the 7:09 mark, Lauren Betts grabbed her own rebound, tipping the ball into the hoop for another two. Sienna Betts followed her sister's lead as well, grabbing a steal and feeding it to Rice, who finished off the fast break to force an Ohio State timeout.
ย
The Betts duo was far from finished after the timeout, with Sienna Betts grabbing the rebound off a Lauren Betts miss and finishing it while drawing the foul. With the quarter coming to an end, the Buckeyes hit a 3-pointer with 0:05 seconds left. Rice answered right back, hitting a 3-pointer from beyond half court as time expired.
ย
ย
Kneepkens scored first for the Bruins in the fourth, hitting a 3-pointer with the foul off a Leger-Walker feed to earn the four-point play. With time on the shot clock running out and falling, Rice drove to the basket and still found Betts inside the paint for two, forcing an Ohio State timeout and increasing the lead to 14. After a 9-0 run by the Buckeyes to cut the lead to six with 2:05 left, Kneepkens hit her second three of the quarter to increase the lead back to nine. A Leger-Walker steal sealed the game for the Bruins.
