LOS ANGELES -- There is only one national award that puts the best in sports, male and female, head-to-head for the title of "top athlete," the AAU James E. Sullivan Award. The vote for the 95th rendition of the award will be open to the public starting today (Feb. 18, 2025) and closes on Feb. 25. The AAU Sullivan Award has been presented annually since 1930 to the most outstanding athlete in the United States. Representatives from the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) created the Sullivan Award with the intent to recognize contributions and achievements from athletes across the country.
The 2024 NCAA Championship Most Valuable Player and the MPSF and ACWPC Player of the Year, Ryder Dodd, has been chosen as one of the 39 semifinalists.
The voting round opened today and the award is open to the public for voting by clicking here. You are able to vote once per day during the voting window.
The winner of the 95th AAU Sullivan Award will be announced at an awards ceremony on April 15 at the New York Athletic Club.
The winner will join a renowned list of recipients. Last year, Iowa women's basketball standout, Caitlin Clark, became the first two-time winner of the award. Other prior winners include Michelle Kwan (2001), Michael Phelps (2003), Shawn Johnson (2008), Peyton Manning (1997), and Missy Franklin (2012).
