Chiles Wins Third Big Ten Gymnast of Week Award

February 04, 2025 | Gymnastics

For the third time this season, UCLA gymnast Jordan Chiles has been selected the Big Ten Conference Gymnast of the Week, sharing the award with Nikki Smith from Michigan State.

Chiles clinched UCLA's remarkable 197.300-197.200 comeback victory over Michigan State with a perfect 10 on floor on the last routine of the meet. Needing to score 9.925 to give UCLA the victory, she was perfect, recording her second 10 of the year and her fifth career 10 on floor. Her score elevated the Bruins to a national-best floor total of 49.800, the fourth-highest floor score in school history, allowing UCLA to overcome a seven-tenths of a point deficit in the final rotation. Chiles also contributed a season-high 9.925 on vault to help the Bruins earn a season-best vault total of 49.350 and topped her season-high on beam with a 9.850.

Chiles now has 10 career perfect 10s, moving her into No. 5 on UCLA's all-time list. Only two other Bruins in school history have more floor 10s than Chiles – Jamie Dantzscher (17) and Katelyn Ohashi (nine). Chiles owns two of the nation's three 10s this season, having scored a 10 on bars on Jan. 25.

This is Chiles' eighth career conference gymnast of the week award and third in the last four weeks.
