March 14, 2025 | Women's Tennis
EUGENE, Ore. – The UCLA women's tennis team won its Big Ten Conference debut Friday, beating Oregon 4-0 at the Ducks' Student Tennis Center.
The three finished singles matches came on the top courts. Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer delivered the clinching victory. Kate Fakih and Kimmi Hance also prevailed for the Bruins (6-4, 1-0 in Big Ten play), who claimed the doubles point without a loss. Oregon dropped to 7-5 overall and 0-3 in league action.
The 90th-ranked doubles pair of Lutkemeyer and Ahmani Guichard collected the only two breaks of serve on Court 3 en route to a 6-2 triumph over Avery Jennings and Julia Visaya.
Bruins were serving with 5-4 advantages on each of the remaining two doubles courts, but it was the third-ranked tandem of Fakih and Olivia Center that ultimately sealed the initial point. The all-freshman pair beat Bridget Mihulka and Karin Young on Court 2, improving to 20-5 dating back to fall tournament play.
No. 100 Hance claimed her second singles win in as many tries since re-entering the ITA singles rankings, defeating Young by a 6-3, 6-3 count on Court 2.
No. 52 Fakih stayed undefeated in dual-match play, beating Tilde Jagare 6-3, 6-4 on Court 3. Fakih has won all nine of her dual-match singles results, with eight of the decisions made in straight sets.
No. 16 Lutkemeyer completed the sweep on Court 1, where she held off Marjorie Souza 6-4, 6-4. Lutkemeyer has now emerged victorious in all four of her top-court singles matches in 2025 and holds an overall singles record of 8-2 in dual matches.
UCLA completes its trip Sunday in Seattle, where it will face 19th-ranked Washington. First serve is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. PT.
