Series History Versus Oregon
โ€ข UCLA leads the all-time series versus Oregon, 97-33, dating back to 1985. The Bruins dropped the regular-season series (April 18-20) to the Ducks, 2-1. Freshman RHP Addisen Fisher, a native of Bend, Ore., pitched a complete-game shutout in an 8-0 run-rule drubbing on April 19 to even the series in front of a sold-out crowd in her return to her home state.
โ€ข INF Jordan Woolery led UCLA during the regular-season series versus Oregon with a .571 batting average (4-for-7) and four RBIs.
โ€ข Thursday evening's contest will mark just the second time UCLA and Oregon have met at the Women's College World Series and the fifth time in all of postseason play (UCLA leads, 4-1). The Bruins defeated the Ducks, 7-1, on May 28, 2015 in their WCWS opener. Then-senior Ally Carda turned in a complete-game performance with three strikeouts to earn the victory.
ย
Bru-Win Magic in South Carolina
โ€ข Junior INF Jordan Woolery hit a 2-run walk-off homer over the left field wall with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to lead UCLA to a thrilling 5-4 come-from-behind victory over host South Carolina in game two of Super Regionals on Saturday, May 24. Trailing 4-1, the Bruins rallied for four runs in their final plate appearances to secure the largest seventh-inning comeback in UCLA postseason history. Woolery entered that at-bat 0-for-6 in the series with four strikeouts.
โ€ข After losing game one of the best-of-three series on Friday, UCLA was tasked with winning back-to-back elimination games in front of a hostile SEC crowd. Aside from a solo shot in the fifth inning by freshman Sofia Mujica, the Bruins were unable to muster any offense for the majority of game two before the late-game rally.
โ€ข Woolery's home run โ€“ her 23rd of the season โ€“ marked UCLA's first postseason walk-off homer since Rachel Garcia's 3-run shot versus Washington in the 2019 Women's College World Series.
โ€ข Woolery now has three game-tying or go-ahead base hits in the sixth inning or later in her postseason career. She hit a game-tying triple in game two of the 2024 Regionals versus Virginia Tech and a go-ahead three-run home run versus Alabama in the 2024 WCWS opener.
โ€ข LHP Kaitlyn Terry (W, 5.2 IP, 4 SO) and RHP Taylor Tinsley (S, 1.1 IP, 2 SO) combined for one of UCLA's most dominant pitching performances of the season in a decisive game three, shutting out the host Gamecocks 5-0 to punch the Bruins' ticket to OKC. Every pitch of the game was called by redshirt sophomore catcher Alexis Ramirez.
โ€ข UTIL Savannah Pola (6-for-12, 2 2B, 1 3B) and Megan Grant (4-for-8) both led UCLA with a .500 batting average during Supers. Grant was intentionally walked twice in game three by South Carolina.

Recapping the NCAA Los Angeles Regional
โ€ข For the first time in program history, UCLA opened the NCAA Tournament with three straight run-rule victories in their games against UC Santa Barbara and San Diego State. It also marked the first time in the Super Regional era (since 2005) that the Bruins recorded three run-rule wins in Regionals. Additionally, UCLA set a new best for run differential in an NCAA Regional in the Super Regional era with a benchmark of +29. The Bruins outscored their opponents 31-2 over the three games.
โ€ข UCLA hit for a collective 1.297 OPS (.807 SLG, .490 OBP) in NCAA Regionals for its best single-week mark yet this season. The Bruins totaled a .422 batting average (35-81) with 16 extra-base hits, including seven home runs. Five separate UCLA players hit for a +.400 batting average in the Regional, led by graduate OF Jessica Clements (.636) who went 7-for-11.

The Bruin Bombers

The two Bay Area natives collected 13 RBIs during NCAA Regionals to improve their season total to 161, breaking a 26-year-old record for most by a UCLA duo in single-season history. Woolery's 86 RBIs rank second-most in UCLA single-season history behind Stacey Nuveman's mark of 91 set in 1999. Grant is third all-time behind Woolery with her 79 RBIs.
โ€ข The two sluggers are also just the second UCLA duo to each hit 20-plus home runs in a single season, first being accomplished in 2015 by Stephany LaRosa (20 HR) and Delaney Spaulding (20 HR). This is not the first time the two made UCLA history together; as All-Americans in 2023, Grant and Woolery combined for 104 runs batted in which were the most all-time by a Bruin freshman duo.
โ€ข Woolery and Grant have hit back-to-back home runs twice this season, last occurring during NCAA Regionals against UC Santa Barbara on May 18.
ย
USA Softball Player of the Year Finalists
Juniors Jordan Woolery (Top 10) and Megan Grant (Top 25) were named Finalists for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year. Woolery made the cut for the Top 10 on May 14. This marks the first time in Grant and Woolery's careers that the two Bay Area natives have been named as Finalists. The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award is considered the most prestigious honor in Division I women's collegiate softball.
โ€ข Woolery is having a career year in 2025 with bests in batting average (.415), slugging percentage (.896), on-base percentage (.504), and home runs (23). The Walnut Creek, Calif. product leads the nation in RBIs (86), ranks third in total bases (173) and is seventh in home runs (23).

โ€ข Grant tied Stacey Nuveman (1999) as the fastest Bruins to reach 20 home runs in a single season, both needing only 42 games.
โ€ข Grant's home runs have come in bunches this season, recording two separate stretches of five straight games with a homer (March 1-8) and four straight games (April 8-13).
โ€ข Grant had a four-game stretch with three grand slams from April 4-11 earlier this season. She has recorded six total grand slams in her career, which leads the active roster.
โ€ข Grant notched the fourth multi-homer game of her career and third of the season versus Washington on Friday, April 11.
โ€ข Grant currently boasts the best batting average of her career with a .384 mark (61-for-159).

Pola, who has bat in the No. 2 spot in 63 of UCLA's 65 games, has scored 73 of the team's 476 runs this season. Likewise, Clements, who has been penciled as the leadoff in 62 games, has crossed home plate 70 times. Pola and Clements both rank fourth and eighth in the country in runs scored, respectively. Pola's .440 batting average paces the Bruins' squad while Clements is hitting a respectable .374 in her first year as member of a "Power 4" program. This postseason, Clements leads UCLA with a .500 average (11-for-22) while Pola is right behind batting .455 (10-for-22).
ย

โ€ข UCLA is 31-2 when Pola records multiple hits in a ballgame this season (losses were to Virginia and South Carolina).
โ€ข Pola has more than tripled her hit production from last season (.241 avg., 28-for-116).
โ€ข Pola recorded two doubles in game three at South Carolina on May 25, improving her season total to 20.

ย
Elite Offensive Numbers
โ€ข UCLA ranks second behind Oregon for the national lead with a +313 run differential, scoring 476 runs while allowing 163. The last time UCLA had a run differential of +313 or better for a season was in 2019 when it won the program's 12th NCAA title (+336). The program record for run differential is +341 set in 2001 (+418/-77).
โ€ข The Bruins rank eighth in the nation in both home runs (95) and slugging percentage (.597).
โ€ข UCLA's 95 home runs are tied for second-most in school single-season history (2010, 108 HR). The Bruins hit a program-record 108 home runs in 2010 and 95 homers in 1999 (both NCAA title seasons).
โ€ข The Bruins' 476 runs scored rank second-most in UCLA single-season history (2015, 499 R).
โ€ข Seven of UCLA's everyday starters (Clements, Pola, Grant, Woolery, Slimp, Bragg and Ramirez) in the batting lineup own an on-base percentage of at least .400 or better entering the WCWS. Terry is just outside the group with a .385 OBP.
ย
Showing No Mercy
UCLA has set a new single-season program record with 28 mercy-rule wins in 2025. The Bruins broke the record their 40th game into the season with a 14-6 decision in five innings versus Ohio State on April 4. The Bruins surpassed the previous mark of 21 set twice in the 2010 and 2015 seasons. Additionally, UCLA has shut out its opponent 18 times, which is good for fifth-best in the country and leads the Big Ten. On the year, UCLA is averaging 7.32 runs per game, which ranks 13th in NCAA DI.

โ€ข Ramirez has recorded a .341 batting average (30-for-88) with 26 runs batted in over her 34 games played this season.
โ€ข Ramirez caught back-to-back games for the first time this season in the last two days of Super Regionals versus South Carolina (May 24-25). Ramirez called the majority of the pitches in both of UCLA's elimination-game victories, including a 5-0 shutout in the series finale to help UCLA punch its ticket to OKC.
โ€ข Earlier this postseason, Ramirez recorded a career-high-tying three-hit performance against UC Santa Barbara in the Regional Final on May 18. Ramirez went 3-for-4 with three separate RBI singles for a total of five runs driven in.
โ€ข Against Northwestern on May 3, Ramirez logged the first two-homer game of her career and recorded a career-high six RBIs to lead the Bruins to a 15-8 win. The next day, Ramirez made her first start behind the dish since week one of the 2024 season.
โ€ข Ramirez has started six total games at catcher and made 29 other starts as the team's designated player since her return in 2025.
โ€ข Ramirez opened 2024 hitting a blistering .455 (5-for-11) with a homer and double before going down with the injury.
ย
Pick Your Poison
UCLA is led in the circle by a trio of aces in freshman Addisen Fisher, sophomore Kaitlyn Terry and junior Taylor Tinsley. Each pitcher has appeared in at least 31 games and worked 113.0-plus innings for the Bruins this season. UCLA is one four programs (Army, Ole Miss and SELA) to have at least three pitchers log 100.0-plus innings pitched; the Bruins were one of two teams (Army) to accomplish that feat during the regular season. Tinsley leads the staff with a 0.92 WHIP, 8.6 K/7 and 1.04 BB/7 in addition to registering a 2.42 earned run average, 14-4 record and 148 strikeouts over 119.0 innings. Tinsley's 0.92 WHIP ranks ninth in the nation and leads the Big Ten.
ย
Two-Way Terry
โ€ข Sophomore LHP Kaitlyn Terry has been a five-tool player for the Bruins this season. Terry, who has started 32 games in right field and made 31 appearances in the circle, has used her bat and speed on the basepaths to generate runs. The slap hitter is a perfect 9-for-9 on stolen base attempts while hitting for a .278 batting average (35-for-126) in the No. 9 spot of UCLA's lineup.
โ€ข Terry leads UCLA's pitching staff with 136.1 innings pitched and 159 strikeouts this season.
โ€ข Terry was the winning pitcher in UCLA's Super Regional-clinching victory at South Carolina last Sunday. She struck out four and allowed just two hits over 5.2 scoreless innings. Terry's clutch performance marked the third time over the last three weeks that she's provided three quality starts with 5.0-plus innings, two-or-fewer runs allowed and picked up the win (May 9 vs. (19) Nebraska and May 17 vs. San Diego State).
โ€ข Terry's top performance in the circle this season came at the Big Ten Tournament in a complete-game, 4-2 victory over No. 19-ranked Nebraska on May 9. Terry struck out 13 Huskers, including the Big Ten Player of the Year Jordy Bahl a season-high three times. Terry has four career double-digit strikeout performances, including two this season (other: 14 SO vs. Missouri, Feb. 20).
โ€ข Terry threw her fourth complete-game shutout of the season versus San Diego State in NCAA Regionals on Saturday, May 17. She did not allow a run in her 8.0 innings of work at the NCAA Los Angeles Regional.
โ€ข Against UC Santa Barbara in the Regional opener on May 16, Terry became the first UCLA player to hit a home run and earn a save in the same game since Courtney Dale on March 3, 2001. Both Terry and Dale's homers were three-run shots.
โ€ข Last year, Terry was named the 2024 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year while operating solely as a pitcher, clinching UCLA's fifth such honor over the past seven seasons. Terry became the seventh freshman in UCLA history to win 20-plus games (21-3) in her debut season and first since Garcia in 2017. Terry led last season's staff with 182.0 innings pitched and recorded a 2.38 ERA, 161 strikeouts and .232 opponent batting average.

Defensive Improvement
UCLA ranks 10th in NCAA DI with a .978 fielding percentage, committing 36 errors in 1,663 total chances. UCLA last finished a season ranked top 10 nationally in fielding percentage and with a .980-plus rate in 2013 (.980, 2nd). This performance is amidst a reshuffling of infield positions due to freshman SS Aleena Garcia's season-ending injury. Beginning March 1, junior Jordan Woolery moved from first base to third base, freshman Kaniya Bragg from third base to shortstop and junior Megan Grant from right field/designated player to first base as a result of the loss of Garcia.
ย
The Success Phase
Head coach Kelly Inouye-Perez has guided UCLA to a 125-23 (.845) record in the months of April and May over the last seven years (2019-pres.), priming her squads for deep postseason runs. Inouye-Perez and the Bruins have reached the Women's College World Series in nine of the last 10 possible seasons (excl. 2020).
ย
Fisher: Freshman of the Year Top 10
RHP Addisen Fisher made the cut for the NFCA Freshman of the Year Top 10 List, the organization announced Thursday, May 8. Fisher owns a 16-2 record with a 2.59 earned run average and 157 strikeouts over 113.2 innings. Fisher opened her career with a 16-0 record before drawing her first loss, tying Amanda Freed (1999) for the best start by a Bruins' freshman in program history.ย  Fisher is the 10th Bruins' student-athlete to be recognized on the Top 25 in the award's 12-year history (since 2014) and the eighth UCLA player to make the Top 10. Terry & Tinsley's Postseason Experience
UCLA entered the 2024 season without a pitcher owning postseason experience for the first time since 1998. The Bruins' young arms of freshman Kaitlyn Terry and Taylor Tinsley went on to pitch the entirety of Pac-12 Conference play (142.0 IP) and combined to pitch all of UCLA's 49.0 innings during the NCAA Tournament. Terry and Tinsley limited their opponents to just 12 earned runs with a 1.71 earned run average over eight NCAA Tournament games. At the WCWS, the two tag-teamed all three contests and surrendered just five runs total to Alabama (W, 3-1), Oklahoma (L, 1-0) and Stanford (L, 3-1). Terry held the eventual-NCAA champion Sooners to just three hits and one run off a solo homer in her start. Terry struck out veteran Oklahoma catcher Kinzie Hansen, marking the first time all last season that Hansen was struck out by a left-handed pitcher.

Tinsley's Best Outing of the Year
Junior RHP Taylor Tinsley was named as one of five "Stars of the Week" by media outlet Softball America on April 7 following her dominant performance versus then-No. 21 Ohio State on April 5. Tinsley tossed a one-hit, complete game shutout and struck out 10 against the Buckeyes. Her gem marked the first time Ohio State, the nation's home runs leader, had been shut out in a game this season. The one hit allowed was also the Buckeyes' fewest in a game.
