Delvecchio Selected in 12th Round of 2025 MLB Draft

LOS ANGELES โ Junior right-handed pitcher Cody Delvecchio of the UCLA baseball team was selected Monday on the second day of the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft.

Delvecchio was the first Bruin off the board, selected in the 12th round (No. 356 overall) to the San Francisco Giants. UCLA has now had 130 student-athletes picked in the MLB Draft in head coach John Savage's 21 years at the helm. The Bruins have seen 52 players selected inside the top-10 rounds.

Across three seasons at UCLA, Delvecchio carved out a reputation as one of Savage's most dependable arms, making 60 appearances across his three seasons in Westwood. He burst onto the scene as a true freshman in 2023, leading the Pac-12 in appearances while posting a 0.74 ERA through April and locking down three saves. His ability to strand runners and deliver under pressure was a hallmark early on, highlighted by a stretch of 25 scoreless outings and consistent strikeout production. In 2024, he emerged as one of UCLA's most efficient bullpen arms before a midseason injury halted his momentum. Through March of that season, he led the team in ERA (2.42) and opponent batting average (.196), posting flawless outings in key road matchups, including four strikeouts in two innings at TCU.

He kicked off the campaign with a standout debut, tossing five innings of one-run ball against Cal Poly.
