August 28, 2025 | Men's Soccer
LOS ANGELES – The UCLA men's soccer program tied Cal State Fullerton 1-1 on Thursday evening at Wallis Annenberg Stadium. The Titans opened the scoring before Oliver Roche tied the game in the 67th minute with his first goal of the year.
With the score even at halftime, both sides looked for a breakthrough in the second half. Cal State Fullerton (1-0-2) cashed in first as Jose de la Torre volleyed in a bicycle kick from the penalty spot off a cross from Jorge Quintero to fire CSUF in front in the 66:06 mark.
However, the Bruins (0-2-1) responded almost instantly. Philip Naef picked up the ball in midfield before dribbling wide and finding the run of Roche. Roche then dribbled past his defender and fired his shot into the roof of the net from a tight angle to tie the game at 1-1.
The two goals were scored just 50 seconds apart after Roche tied it at the 66:56 mark.
Neither side were able to find the game-winner and the game ended in a tie, 1-1.
Earlier on in the first half, Naef had a great opportunity in the fifth minute to open the scoring but had his shot well saved by the Fullerton keeper.
Roche then had another great opportunity on the break in the 38th minute after being played in on goal by Naef, but his shot went just over the crossbar, and the two sides went into the halftime break tied up at 0-0.
In goal for the Bruins freshman Ryan Tiltack made his second career start and made three strong saves throughout the game.
