LOS ANGELES – The No. 12 UCLA men’s soccer program scored twice in the second half to defeat Omaha on Sunday evening. Cameron Arnold and Shakir Nixon scored the goals for the Bruins in the win.

With the win, UCLA improves to 3-0-2 to start the season, while Omaha (2-1-2) fell for the first time in 2026.

On a rainy day in Westwood with the pitch slick, the Mavericks opened the scoring with 45 seconds to go in the opening half. Mikey Stukenholtz tallied the opener for Omaha, who took the 1-0 lead into the halftime break.

The Bruins responded out of the halftime break and controlled possession throughout the second half. Arnold found the breakthrough after UCLA recorded multiple great looks throughout the opening 15 minutes of action of the half.

David de la Vibroa dribbled down the left wing and whipped in a cross to Arnold, who connected with a heel flick inside the six-yard box to tie the game at 1-1. The goal was Arnold’s first as a Bruin and tied the game with 64:50 on the clock.

UCLA continued to look for the game-winning goal in the final 20 minutes. Tre Wright had a shot blocked before the Bruins picked up possession again.

de la Vibora picked up the ball again and dribbled into the Omaha box, where he was tripped by a Mavericks defender, giving UCLA a penalty kick. Shakir Nixon stepped up and buried the penalty kick, putting the Bruins up 2-1 in the 80th minute.

Nixon now has three goals and two assists in his last three appearances for the Bruins.

UCLA would see out the result in the remaining 10 minutes and improved to 3-0-2 on the season.
