Bruins in the NFL: Wild Card Weekend
January 13, 2026 | Football
Nine former UCLA football standouts were in action during the NFL's Wild Card Weekend and five advanced to join Jake Bobo and Zach Charbonnet on the Seattle Seahawks in the divisional round. The seven remaining Bruins will be spread across five different teams, as Alec Anderson (Buffalo Bills), Jake Brendel (San Francisco 49ers), Ka'imi Fairbairn (Houston Texans), Eric Kendricks (San Francisco 49ers) and Quentin Lake (Los Angeles Rams) helped their teams prevail.
Â
• Eric Kendricks, LB, San Francisco 49ers – Kendricks, who aided UCLA Athletics in the football head coach search committee in 2025, delivered the game-sealing pass deflection on 4th-and-11 just outside the redzone to clinch San Francisco's 23-19 victory over Philadelphia. Kendricks, who was signed to the 49ers practice squad on Nov. 26, 2025, started the Wild Card game and finished with 10 tackles (7-3-10) and 2.0 tackles for loss.
UP NEXT: Sunday at Seattle (5 p.m. PT on FOX)
• Quentin Lake, S, Los Angeles Rams – Making his return after a seven-week injury absence, Lake started for Los Angles and recorded six tackles (4-2-6) and two pass breakups in a thrilling 34-31 victory at Carolina.
UP NEXT: Sunday at Chicago (3:30 p.m. PT on NBC)
Â
• Ka'imi Fairbairn, K, Houston Texans – Fairbairn drilled his 11th field foal from 50-plus yards out this season with a 51-yarder in a 30-6 win over Pittsburgh. He also connected on two PATs in what was the most lopsided result in Wild Card Weekend.
UP NEXT: Sunday at New England (12 p.m. PT on ESPN)
Â
• Matt Dickerson, DL, Jacksonville Jaguars – Dickerson recorded two solo tackles in a reserve role as Jacksonville was tripped up at home by Buffalo, 27-24.
Â
• Otito Ogbonnia, DL, Los Angeles Chargers – Ogbonnia assisted on one tackle in Los Angeles' 16-3 loss at New England.
Â
OT Alec Anderson (Buffalo Bills), C Jake Brendel (San Francisco 49ers), C Andre James (Los Angeles Chargers) and C Sean Rhyan (Green Bay Packers) also played, but did not record any statistics. ILB Krys Barnes (Carolina Panthers) was not active on Saturday versus the Los Angeles Rams.
