Three Bruins Named Preseason All-Americans by D1Baseball

January 20, 2026 | Baseball

LOS ANGELES โ€“ย UCLA baseball landed three selections on the D1Baseball Preseason All-America teams, with junior shortstop Roch Cholowsky earning First Team honors and junior first baseman Mulivai Levu and junior third baseman Roman Martin each securing spots on the Third Team.
Cholowsky, Levu, and Martin headline a Bruins squad coming off a landmark 2025 season that included a return to the Men's College World Series for the first time since 2013, a 48โ€“18 record, and a share of the Big Ten regular-season title in the program's inaugural year in the conference.
ย
Cholowsky enters 2026 following one of the most decorated seasons in UCLA history. The Big Ten Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year became the first Bruin ever to sweep both awards in the same season and the first UCLA player since 1998 to earn conference player of the year recognition. Nationally, he became the first Bruin and first sophomore to win the Brooks Wallace Award as the nation's top shortstop, added an ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove, and was named Perfect Game's National Player of the Year.ย
ย
Statistically, Cholowsky led all Division I players with a 6.49 WAR while slashing .353/.480/.710 with 23 home runs and 74 RBIs. His 1.261 OPS and .761 slugging percentage topped the Big Ten, and his 23 homers were the most by a Bruin since 2000. He scored 80 runs, finishing one shy of the program record, and his 179 total bases rank second in UCLA history during the Super Regional era.
ย
Levu, a Third Team selection, returns after a standout 2025 campaign in which he earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors and ranked second nationally with 85 RBIs. He hit .320 with 12 home runs and was one of only two Bruins to start every game. Defensively, he committed just one error in 569 chances and earned an ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove at first base.
ย
Martin joins Levu on the Third Team after a breakout sophomore season in which he started 65 games at third base and earned Second Team All-Big Ten recognition. He slashed .316/.450/.502 with 15 doubles, nine home runs, and 61 RBIs while scoring 60 runs and collecting 119 total bases. Martin posted 22 multi-hit games and broke UCLA's single-season hit-by-pitch record with 21 before West surpassed him later in the year.
