No. 1 UCLA Sweeps Fort Valley State, 3-0

LOS ANGELES – The No. 1 UCLA men's volleyball team earned a three-set sweep over Fort Valley State on Thursday evening inside Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom Financial.
Thirteen Bruins earned playing time in the win, as UCLA (5-0, 1-0 MPSF) hit. 426 on the night, while limiting Fort Valley State to a season-low .051 hitting percentage. Zach Rama and Sean Kelly led the Bruins' offense with nine kills each, while Cameron Thorne and Grayson Bradford added six kills each.
Brogan Glenn, Jaidin Russell, and Filippos Chrysostomou all made their season debuts on Thursday night. Glenn made his first appearance as a Bruin in the third set, while Chrysostomou had one dig, and Russell had two huge block assists in the win.
In the opening set, a Decker ace put the Bruins up 6-5 early on in the first set, as the teams traded points early on.
A Rama kill pushed the Bruins out to a 15-12 advantage, before Decker added his second ace of the set to give the Bruins a four-point cushion, 16-12.
Decker's second ace of the set gave the Bruins a 24-19 lead before a service error from FVSU gave UCLA the first set, 25-21.
As for the second set, the Bruins recorded three service aces, and were a force on the block, recording 11 block assists in the set alone.
Two blocks by Wong Diallo and Rowan gave the Bruins a 6-5 lead in the second set. Rowan then found Thorne to push the Bruins out to a 12-10 lead in the set.
Thorne recorded four of UCLA's nine kills in the set, while Wong Diallo added three block assists to pace the Bruins.
With Chrysostomou at the service line, Russell and Kelly combined for the block to put the Bruins up 24-15, before a kill from Kelly off the dish from Trent Taliaferro gave the Bruins the set two win, 25-17.
In the third set the Bruins hit a sizzling .619 with Taliaferro directing the offense for the majority of the set. Bradford recorded all six of his kills in the final set, finishing 6-for-7 in the set, while Kelly and Rama had five kills and two kills in the set.
A solo block from Wong Diallo pushed the Bruins out to a 9-5 advantage in the third set. Taliaferro then found Bradford to increase UCLA's lead to nine points, 18-9.
A Kelly ace and a kill from Bradford made it a 23-13 UCLA lead, before the Bruins closed out the third set and the match off an FVSU Attack error, 25-15.
With the win the Bruins move to 5-0 on the season, and have won four of their matches in straight sets.
