Cholowsky, Levu Named Baseball America Preseason All-Americans

LOS ANGELES โย UCLA baseball placed two standouts on Baseball America's Preseason All-America teams. Junior shortstop Roch Cholowsky was selected as the outlet's preseason Player of the Year in addition to hisย First Team nod.ย Junior first baseman Mulivai Levu secured a spot on the Third Team.

Cholowsky enters 2026 as one of the nation's premier players after assembling one of the most accomplished individual seasons in UCLA history. The reigning Big Ten Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year became the first Bruin to sweep both awards in the same season and the first UCLA player since 1998 to earn conference player of the year honors. Nationally, he became the first Bruin to win the Brooks Wallace Award as the country's top shortstop, added an ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove, and was recognized as Perfect Game's National Player of the Year.

Cholowsky led all Division I players with a 6.49 WAR and delivered a .353/.480/.710 slash line with 23 home runs and 74 RBIs. His 1.261 OPS and .761 slugging percentage paced the Big Ten, and his 23 homers were the most by a UCLA player in more than two decades. He finished one run shy of the program's single-season record with 80 and totaled 179 bases, the second-highest mark by a Bruin in the Super Regional era.

Levu returns as one of the conference's most productive run producers after a breakout 2025 season. The junior first baseman earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors and finished second nationally with 85 RBIs while hitting .320 with 12 home runs. He was one of only two Bruins to start every game and anchored the infield defensively, committing just one error in 569 chances on his way to an ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove.
