Men's Basketball Outlasts Washington, 77-73
February 07, 2026 | Men's Basketball
LOS ANGELES – The UCLA men's basketball team defeated Washington, 77-73, in a Big Ten Conference game at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom Financial on Saturday night.
Four players scored in double figures for UCLA (17-7, 9-4 Big Ten). Trent Perry led the team with 23 points, connecting on all three of his attempts from 3-point range. Tyler Bilodeau totaled 19 points. Donovan Dent (17 points and 10 assists) recorded his third double-double in as many games, and Eric Dailey Jr. finished the contest with 14 points.
"Defensively, it's a fight everyday with this group," said Mick Cronin, The Michael Price Family UCLA Men's Head Basketball Coach. "I just talked to them. >They're great guys. I love them. We're not going anywhere if we keep giving up 50 percent from the field – our season will end really quickly. We got offensive talent, but we got to have some guys who care about defense. Our problem is that our best defender has been out for a month [Skyy Clark]. Hopefully he can string together some practices, because we don't play for a week."
Wesley Yates III led Washington (12-12, 4-9 Big Ten) with 21 points, connecting on 9 of 17 shots from the field. The Huskies made 5 of 17 shots from 3-point range and were 12-for-18 at the free throw line.
The Bruins pushed ahead midway through the second half of the game. After Washington missed a pair of free throws, awarded on a technical foul, UCLA pushed its 54-53 cushion up to six points, at 60-54, with 7:45 to play. A 3-point basket by Perry at the 7:45 mark send UCLA ahead by the six-point margin.
Washington cut UCLA's advantage to two points, at 60-58, before Bilodeau converted the old-fashion 3-point play at the 4:40 mark. He finished on a short-range shot and drew the foul to help UCLA take a five-point lead.
The Bruins led Washington by nine points (69-60), before Washington answered with a pair of 3-pointers from Quimari Peterson – one at the 1:21 mark and a second triple with 53 seconds to play. That shot reduced UCLA's lead to 70-66. Washington never got any closer than two points of UCLA, over the game's final 45 seconds.
Dailey Jr. knocked down a pair of free throws with 21 seconds to play, and Perry followed with two free throws at the nine-second mark.
UCLA trailed the Huskies at halftime, 34-30.
Perry finished the game having made 5 of 9 shots, including all three of his 3-point attempts, and he shot 10-for-11 at the free throw line. In all, UCLA sank 23 of 29 free throw attempts (79.3%).
Dent registered his 14th career double-double and knocked down seven of eight free throw attempts.
UCLA had committed seven or fewer turnovers for the third time in their last four games. Last Tuesday night in a win over Rutgers, the Bruins logged 25 assists and just two turnovers.
The Bruins defeated Washington for the 16th time in the last 18 meetings between the two West Coast programs. This marked the second straight season in which UCLA swept the regular-season series with the Huskies.
The Bruins will return to the road in Big Ten play later next week. UCLA will play at Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 14, with game time at UM's Crisler Center set for 9:45 a.m. PT (12:45 p.m. ET in Ann Arbor, Mich.). The Bruins' game at Michigan will be nationally televised on CBS.
UCLA will also play at Michigan State the night of Tuesday, Feb. 17.
