February 09, 2026 | Softball
ROSEMONT, Ill. โ Senior infielder Jordan Woolery on the No. 7-ranked UCLA softball team was named Big Ten Player of the Week after helping the Bruins to a historic 5-0 weekend to open the 2026 season.
ย
This marks Woolery's first career conference weekly honor. Woolery finished Week 1 with a team-high 10 hits (10-for-15) and 14 runs batted in and was tied for the team lead with five home runs over five games. The Walnut Creek, Calif. native recorded multiple hits and homered at least once in four of her five starts at first base.
ย
On day one of the season, Woolery went a combined 6-for-7 with nine RBIs and two home runs, including a grand slam, in mercy-rule wins over UC Santa Barbara and UC Riverside. On Saturday, she recorded a pair of RBI base hits in UCLA's second game of the day versus Oregon State on a two-RBI double and solo home run.
ย
In UCLA's final game of the weekend versus UC Riverside, she left the yard twice, contributing to the team's historic eight home run tally that set a new program single-game record. It was her fourth career multi-homer performance. The first of her two homers versus the Highlanders was one of five first-inning dingers, which is tied for third-most in a single inning in NCAA history.
ย
As a team, UCLA set program Week 1 records for runs scored (68) and home runs (23) over its five run-rule victories.
ย
Next week, the Bruins makes their first road trip of the season with a return to the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational at Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater, Fla. UCLA opens the tournament with two games on Friday, Feb. 13 versus No. 24 Oklahoma State (12 p.m. PT) and Missouri (3 p.m. PT). All five of UCLA's games in Clearwater will be televised or livestreamed by the ESPN Family of Networks.
