23 Bruins Set to Begin 2026 NWSL Season

A total of 23 UCLA women's soccer alumnae will begin the 2026 NWSL season on opening day rosters, as the season begins on Friday, March 13.
Three members of UCLA's 2025 squad begin their first season in the league - Meila Brewer (Kansas City Current), Emma Egizii (Chicago Stars FC) and Jennie Immethun (Denver Summit FC). Two other 2025 Bruins are playing in Liga MX Femenil in Mexico - America Frias (Cruz Azul) and Val Vargas (Rayadas).
Three UCLA alumnae return to the reigning NWSL champion NJ/NY Gotham FC - NWSL Rookie of the Year Lilly Reale, Sofia Cook and Ryan Campbell. Also with three Bruins on its roster is the Orlando Pride, with Ally Lemos, Hailie Mace and Viviana Villacorta. Four Bruins play for the Portland Thorns - Jessie Fleming, Immethun, Jayden Perry and Reilyn Turner. New NWSL squad Denver Summit FC has two Bruins in Meg Boade and Ayo Oke. Los Angeles' own Angel City FC boasts a pair of Bruins in Sydney Leroux and Faith Nguyen. Seattle Reign FC will open the year with Mia Fishel and Neeku Purcell. Quincy McMahon joins a new squad in 2026, suiting up for Racing Louisville FC. Returning to their squads are Ashley Sanchez with the North Carolina Courage and Delanie Sheehan with the Houston Dash. Bay FC's two Bruins, Abby Dahlkemper and Caprice Dydasco, are both on maternity leave.
The 2026 season kicks off on Friday, March 13 at 5pm PT with Portland facing the Washington Spirit in Washington, D.C. Ten other teams open their season on Saturday, March 14, including Gotham FC, which plays Boston Legacy at 9:30am PT in a match that will be televised on ABC. Also kicking off on Saturday are Kansas City (vs. Utah, 1pm PT), Denver (at Bay FC, 3:30pm PT), and Houston (at San Diego, 5:45pm PT), along with North Carolina, who hosts Louisville at 4pm PT. On Sunday, March 15, Orlando hosts Seattle at 1pm PT, and Angel City FC hosts Chicago at 4pm PT.
