Crossley Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for Fifth Time

ROSEMONT, Ill. โ Mayu Crossley of UCLA women's tennis collected her fifth Big Ten Freshman of the Week award Wednesday, the conference announced. She had a stellar road trip, winning all four of her matches played as the Bruins split against Michigan (March 21 โ 3-4) and Michigan State (March 22 โ 4-1).
Crossley's standout performance came in the opener, as she beat 20th-ranked Lily Jones of the Wolverines 6-4, 6-1. Crossley is 3-1 versus nationally-ranked singles players in dual play, with all three wins posted opposite top-20 foes. She added a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Amara Brahmbhatt the next day.
On the doubles side, first-time partners Crossley and Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer had immediate success. They were first to finish both days, knocking off Reese Miller/Laura Rahnel of Michigan (6-4) and Oriana Parkins-Godwin/Issey Purser of Michigan State (6-2). All four of Crossley's results came on Court 2.
No other Big Ten player has claimed more than two Freshman of the Week honors. Crossley was previously recognized March 4, Feb. 25, Feb. 4 (also Player of the Week) and Nov. 12, 2025. Bruins Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer (March 4, Feb. 25) and Ahmani Guichard (Sept. 24, 2025) have also received Player of the Week accolades in 2025-26.
