Cholowsky Named to Brooks Wallace Award Watch List
March 04, 2026 | Baseball
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. โ Junior shortstop Roch Cholowsky has been named to the Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Watch List, as announced Wednesday morning by the College Baseball Foundation.
ย
The Brooks Wallace Award honors the nation's top shortstop and commemorates Brooks Wallace, the former Texas Tech standout whose life and career were cut short at age 27 following a battle with leukemia. Before 2009, the award recognized the national player of the year.
ย
Cholowsky, last year's Brooks Wallace Award winner and a CBF All-American, is off to another standout start in 2026. He is hitting .341 with seven home runs, including a pivotal two-run shot with UCLA down to its final out at No. 4 Mississippi State to tie the game in the ninth.
ย
Defensively, Cholowsky has been flawless. The reigning ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove shortstop has successfully handled all 53 of his chances through 12 games, continuing the elite defensive standard that defined his 2025 season.
