Amy Acuff to Be Inducted Into CSC Academic All-America Hall of Fame
April 23, 2026 | Track & Field
College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced this week that UCLA track & field alumna and five-time Olympian Amy Acuff has been selected as one of four members of the Academic All-America Hall of Fame Class of 2026.
Acuff will be inducted alongside her classmates Sam Acho (Texas, football), Dr. Jim Agre (Augsburg University, men's soccer), and Therese Dorigan Cullen (Elmhurst College, women's volleyball) at this year's CSC Unite 2026 on June 8 at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas as part of CSC's All-Star Night of Honors presented by ESPN.
When she is inducted, Acuff will become the ninth Bruin all-time to enter the Academic All-America Hall of Fame, and the first since Dr. Julie Bremner Romias in 2011. Past UCLA inductees into the Academic All-America HoF include legendary figures such as Coach John Wooden (men's basketball), Bill Walton (men's basketball), Karch Kiraly (men's volleyball), Jamaal Wilkes (men's basketball), and Donn Moomaw (football). She is the first member of the UCLA track & field program to receive the nod from CSC.
This honor from CSC is the latest in a string of recognition for Acuff. She was previously inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007, was inducted into the Texas Track & Field Coaches Hall of Fame in 2015, and just last year was selected into the USTFCCCA Collegiate Track & Field Hall of Fame.
Besides her considerable athletic exploits, Acuff was a standout in the classroom during her tenure in Westwood. She was a three-time Academic All-American as a Bruin, including First Team honors in both 1996 and 1997. She was the first UCLA track & field alumna to receive an NCAA postgraduate scholarship.
A record-breaking jumper at UCLA from 1994-97, Acuff was the Pac-10 high jump champion in each of her four years, becoming the first woman in league history to win four straight individual titles. She won five NCAA high jump titles as a Bruin โ three indoor in in 1994-95 and 1997, and two outdoor in 1995-96 โ and set a then-NCAA record by clearing 6-6. She was twice named Pac-10 Female Track & Field Athlete of the Year.
She is still the program's high jump record-holder, both indoor (6-5.5) and outdoor (6-6).
Internationally, Acuff competed at five Olympics, highlighted by a fourth-place result at the 2004 Athens Games. She was also a six-time U.S. Outdoor Champion, and five-time U.S. Indoor Champion.
Created in 1988, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Hall of Fame recognizes former Academic All-Americans who received a college degree at least 10 years prior, have achieved lifetime success in their professional careers, and are committed to philanthropic causes. Honorees are chosen each year by a select committee of CSC members, leaders, and past Academic All-America Hall of Fame inductees.
