Jordan Chiles Named Honda Award Finalist
April 27, 2026 | Gymnastics
UCLA senior Jordan Chiles has been named a finalist for the 2026 Honda Sport Award for gymnastics, as announced today by The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda. The prestigious award honors the nation's top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports, symbolizing "the best of the best in collegiate athletics."ย
Chiles won the NCAA floor exercise title in her final competition, concluding her storied collegiate career as a four-time NCAA champion. She won the floor exercise in 2026 and 2023 and uneven bars in 2025 and 2023. She was also the NCAA runner-up on balance beam this season and captured two more All-America honors to finish as a 23-time All-American, one shy of the school record. Chiles also became just the second Bruin ever to earn the maximum five first-team regular season All-America honors. She was honored this season as the 2026 AAI Award winner as the top senior gymnast in the nation.ย
Ranked No. 1 in the nation in the all-around for most of the season and No. 1 on floor for the final five weeks of the year, Chiles was the only gymnast in the nation to finish the regular season ranked in the Top 5 on all four events and the all-around. She totaled 49 event wins in 2026 and 131 in her career and scored eight perfect 10s - six on floor exercise, one on vault and one on uneven bars. She finished her career with 19 perfect 10s, which ranks 10th in NCAA history and No. 3 all-time at UCLA. ย
Chiles earned her second career WCGA West Region Gymnast of the Year honor and added NCAA Regional vault and floor exercise titles to bring her career total of Regional Championships to a school-record 10. She was simply dominant in the Big Ten, winning Gymnast of the Year honors and being named the Gymnast of the Week a conference-record 10 times. In just two seasons, she totaled 16 career Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honors, second-most in Big Ten history. At the Big Ten Championships, she won the all-around, bars, beam and floor to tie the conference single-season record with four individual titles. She also led the Bruins to their second consecutive Big Ten Conference title after winning the regular season title for the second year in a row.
UCLA gymnasts have won the Honda Sport Awards seven times, most recently by Kyla Ross in 2019-20. Other Bruin winners are Christine Peng-Peng Lee (2017-18), Kristen Maloney (2004-05), Onnie Willis (2002-03), Mohini Bhardwaj (2000-01), Jill Andrews (1989-90) and Sharon Shapiro (1980-81). ย
The other finalists for the Honda Sport Award for gymnastics are LSU's Kailin Chio, Stanford's Anna Roberts and Oklahoma's Faith Torrez. The announcement comes as the CWSA celebrates its 50th anniversary during the 2025-26 collegiate athletics season. For five decades, the Honda Sport Award has honored the nation's top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports, symbolizing "the best of the best in collegiate athletics." The recipient will become a finalist for the prestigious Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the Class of 2026 Honda Cup, to be presented live on Monday, July 27, at 7 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.
