Maggie Boyd Named 2026 AVCA Beach Player of the Year

UCLA senior Maggie Boyd was named the 2026 AVCA Beach Player of the Year, becoming the first Bruin ever to earn either the Player or Pair of the Year honor.ย
Boyd (Flower Mound, Texas) has been a star on the collegiate scene since her freshman year, earning first-team All-America and all-conference honors on court 1 all four years. She is just the seventh player in NCAA history and fourth in UCLA history to earn four first-team AVCA Beach All-America honors. This season, Boyd has led the Bruins to a 30-6 team record while posting a 30-5 pairs record with Sally Perez. Earlier this season, she became the 11th Bruin to record 100 career wins, and she currently has 122 to rank No. 4 all-time at UCLA. She is also No. 2 on the career pairs victories list with Perez with 61, as well as No. 4 with Lexy Denaburg with 57. Boyd is also a standout in the classroom, earning second-team Academic All-America honors in 2025, a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award and two conference all-academic honors. She has also been on the Director's Honor Roll 11 times in her career. ย
Boyd and the Bruins will begin NCAA Tournament play on Friday, May 1 against Tulane in the first round.ย
