April 30, 2026 | Beach Volleyball
UCLA sophomore Sally Perez was named the 2026 MPSF Beach Volleyball Player of the Year and honored alongside her partner Maggie Boyd as the 2026 MPSF Pair of the Year for the second consecutive year.ย
Both Perez and Boyd earned first-team All-MPSF honors for the second year in a row and were joined by junior Ensley Alden, a first-time All-MPSF honoree. Junior Kaley Mathews and sophomore Harper Cooper received second-team All-MPSF acclaim. ย
Perez, who hails from Apex, N.C., keeps the award in the family after Boyd won it a year ago. Competing on court 1 all season, Perez leads UCLA with 31 victories, a total that ranks No. 21 on UCLA's single-season individual victories chart. In just under two seasons, Perez has totaled 62 career wins, already putting her in UCLA's Top 25 for career victories. Perez is 31-5 (.861) heading into the NCAA tournament and was recently named a finalist for the AVCA Beach Player of the Year. Last year, she was the MPSF Freshman of the Year and earned first-team All-MPSF and All-America honors. This fall, she won the FIVB U21 Beach Volleyball World Championship with Stanford's Avery Jackson, becoming just the second-ever American pair to win the event. Perez has also excelled academically, earning Director's Honor Roll distinction every quarter she has been at UCLA.ย
All but one of Perez's matches over the last two season have been played Boyd on court 1, and the two repeat as MPSF Pair of the Year. Together, they have posted a 30-5 record (.857) in 2026 and are 61-9 (.871) all-time as a pair. They rank No. 2 all-time at UCLA in career pairs victories and No. 6 in career winning percentage. Their partnership has been strong since the very beginning, as they became the first Bruins ever to win the AVCA Pairs National Championship in the Fall of 2024. Of the pair's 30 wins, 25 have been against ranked opponents, with 15 coming against the current Top 10 and nine coming against the current Top 5. Perez and Boyd had six dual-clinching points through the year, including a straight-sets win against top-ranked Stanford on Mar. 7. They earned MPSF/Molten Pair of the Week honors as well as AVCA National Pair of the Week acclaim on March 3 after going 4-0 at the Battle for LA. In that tournament, they posted a win over All-Americans Ella Connor and Erin Iskeep from then-No. 3 Cal Poly, followed by a victory over Long Beach State All-Americans Malia Gementera and Taylor Hagenah.ย

She is a four-time first-team all-conference selection, the 2025 MPSF Player of the Year, 2023 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and a 2025 second-team Academic All-American and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.ย
