WEEKEND RECAP
No. 1 UCLA opened the weekend with an 11-1 run-rule win behind Mulivai Levu's two-homer night and a complete-game gem from Wylan Moss, matching the Big Ten record with 27 straight league victories. Oregon answered in game two, overcoming UCLA's early four-run burst and a pair of Roch Cholowsky homers to hand the Bruins their first conference loss of the season with a late four-run rally. UCLA then stormed back in the finale, erasing a five-run deficit with eight unanswered, capped by Dean West's go-ahead grand slam, to secure a 9-6 win and the series, highlighted by strong bullpen work and another Cholowsky blast to extend his Big Ten home-run lead.

ABOUT THE HUSKIES
Washington split Friday's doubleheader at Penn State before dropping Saturday's finale, finishing the weekend 1-2. The Huskies opened the series with a 5-4 win, taking an early lead, reclaiming it on Ethan Swidler's three-run homer in the eighth, and riding 6.0 strong innings from Jackson Thomas. Washington tallied nine hits, six for extra bases, and saw Colton Bower return with a 2-for-2 start. Penn State answered in game two, building a 5-1 lead before Jackson Hotchkiss launched his 18th homer to pull UW within a run, but the Huskies fell 6-4. On Saturday, Washington's offense stalled in a 4-0 loss, managing four hits while Hayden Lewis worked 5.1 innings in the finale.
UNPRECEDENTED TEAM STRENGTH
Using data compiled from Pearatings.com, which provides metrics such as Team Strength Rating (TSR), a run-value measure centered at zero, a team's TSR reflects how many runs better or worse it is than an average team. A TSR of +2.00 indicates a team is two runs better than average; a TSR of -1.50 indicates a team is one and a half runs worse. The 2026 UCLA Bruins lead the nation with a staggering TSR of +7.49, a figure that not only captures their dominance this season but also places them among the elite teams of the modern era. In fact, the 2026 Bruins rank fifth nationally since 1999, trailing only 2018 Oregon State, 2019 Vanderbilt, and the 2022 and 2024 Tennessee teams.
THAT'S A KILLSHOT!
Killshot Ratio is derived from Pearatings' killshot metric. A killshot occurs when a team scores 2+ runs in an inning while holding its opponent scoreless. Killshot Ratio measures how often a team delivers a killshot compared to how often it concedes one. Essentially, it measures how well a team creates and prevents crooked innings. UCLA leads the nation with a Killshot Ratio of 3.43. The Bruins average 1.55 killshots per game, the fifth-best mark nationally, while allowing just 0.45 killshots per game, the second-best rate in the country.
B1G TIME DOMINANCE
UCLA clinched the outright regular season championship with two weekends still left to play after sweeping its first eight series, rattling off 24 consecutive wins. The Bruins are undefeated on the road, winning all nine of its games in the eastern time zone (Ohio State, Rutgers, Michigan State) and adding a dominant series sweep in the central time zone at Iowa. UCLA has taken care of business at home, sweeping fifth-place Michigan, No. 18 USC, Maryland, and Minnesota, before earning a series victory over No. 13 Oregon last weekend in West. Will Gasparino leads the Bruins in hitting during league play, posting a .346 average with six home runs and 31 RBIs. The pitching staff has shined as well, keeping a league-best 3.27 team ERA during the title-winning run.
ROCH'IN AND ROLLIN'
Reigning D1Baseball, Baseball America, Perfect Game, and ABCA/Rawlings Player of the Year Roch Cholowsky has hit his stride over the last 10 games, batting .405 with seven home runs, 15 RBIs, and 38 total bases. He has scored 16 runs during that stretch and now leads the Big Ten with 69 runs scored, ranking seventh nationally. The UCLA shortstop is coming off a weekend in which he blasted three home runs against No. 13 Oregon. Cholowsky leads the Big Ten with 21 home runs, making him one of just 17 players nationwide to reach the 20-homer mark this season.
HAWK'S FLYING HIGH
Sophomore right-hander Easton Hawk has been one of UCLA's most reliable and dominant bullpen arms, piecing together an elite season built on consistency, swing-and-miss stuff, and a remarkable run of scoreless outings. Hawk has settled into lockdown form, allowing just six earned runs across 32.1 innings with 38 strikeouts, only 21 hits, and a sparkling 1.67 ERA. His last 21 appearances have been especially impressive: Hawk has thrown 21.2 innings without allowing a single earned run, giving up just five hits in that entire stretch while striking out 27 and converting 11 saves. He's repeatedly delivered in high-leverage moments, stranding runners, closing out tight games, and overpowering hitters with clean, efficient innings. With a season line of 3-2, 13 saves, and a microscopic ERA, Hawk has emerged as one of the most dominant late-inning weapons in Division I baseball and a cornerstone of UCLA's nation-leading record.
