Molly Tuter, who ranks third on the all-time Arizona State scoring list, was hired in June of 1998 as a part-time assistant coach. Tuter spent the 1997-98 season as a member of the Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA. She also played for the Club Amicale Steinsel in Luxembourg.
During her four-year Sun Devil career, Tuter scored 1,374 points to rank third on the all-time school list. She also ended her ASU career among the school's Top 5 in career steals (221); three-point shooting (116 made); and blocked shots
(59). She ranked fourth in the Pac-10 in free throw shooting (.787) and ninth in
scoring (15.1) in her senior season. Tuter earned honorable mention all- conference honors after both her junior and senior seasons and merited a Pac-10
Player of the Week honor in 1996.
A native of Soldotna, Alaska, Tuter was twice named Gatorade State High School Basketball Player of the Year. She lettered in three sports (basketball, track and volleyball). She joined the Bruin staff after earning her degree in Sociology from ASU in May of 1998.
